Agreed. There isn't any parity anymore and too many traditionally fun teams to watch just plain suck.

Yeah I don't get it.
I just don't know what's there to debate. I guess the obvious which one you like better, but all the other stuff people talk about all seem to be obvious to me.

- NFL players are better
- CFB players/teams have more variance so you'll see much more weird and wacky outcomes/performance
- As a result of the one above, CFB games will tend to be more exciting.
- CFB individual gameswill also be more exciting/have more meaning at the top as the value of 1 loss is wayyyyy higher than compared to the NFL

I don't know who really disagrees with those items, while they're not facts in the literal sense...they're facts.

This is likely due to the volume and accessibility of CFB vs NFL.

There is definitely some truth to this.

Its true and long has been. The biggest part of that to me is the atmosphere in college is just so much more genuine and fun, not as commercialized...at least when teams play at home and not at neutral sites. There's nothing better than waking up on a crisp Fall Saturday morning to College Gameday and a full day of games nationwide.

It's becoming more true of both, but the NFL especially has too many commercials and unnecessary penalties in the for my liking. I still watch but it's frustrating how the game has changed.

I agree that the SEC has changed from its peak in 2008 to 2013.

Shocking a bama fan that thinks college football started in 2008. At least LSU fans go back to 2000.

In my opinion, here are a few things the NFL can do to improve their product:

1. It's already been talked about here, but eliminate all the unnecessary commercial breaks during the games.. they're already making a frickton of money, why be greedy and take in more when you know this BS drives the fans crazy

2. Get rid of the Thursday night games.. the London games should be waxed too, or at least figure out a better way to schedule these games... maybe play in Canada or Mexico or something, I dno

3. Relax the rules on the defense a little. Yes I understand they are concerned about player safety (lawsuits), but it's a little annoying when you're watching your team on D, and everytime there is an incomplete pass, or the QB gets touched, you have to hold your breath and pray that there isn't a penalty.. too many drives are kept alive because of bullshite penalties

4. Speaking of penalties, there are too many automatic first downs.. a five yard penalty should be just that, a five yard penalty

5. To get back some of the goodwill from the fans, make goodell relinquish some of his authority.. maybe a panel or a board that can handle player discipline, I don't know. But to have one person be the judge, jury, and executioner seems a little archaic to me, especially in a league like the NFL.

6. For the love of god, drop the gameday prices at NFL stadiums across the board... besides tickets, parking is $40, beer is $9.50, small plates of food is $13.50, etc etc... there is no need to price gouge the way they do it

I'm sure some will disagree, and some will want to add to this list, but I feel like these changes could earn some of the fan support back

I agree with all of those except the London games. I love waking up on a Sunday morning and having NFL on TV.

I'm all for scrapping the Thursday games, but eating breakfast and drinking coffee on a Sunday morning with live NFL is a damn treat.

However, if I were a season ticket holder or regularly went to my teams home games, I'd be pissed.

I guess my complaint about the London games was more for the players and not the fans.. I can see how people in the states and in London would enjoy them

No kidding.

If you're not a player(or arguing on the behalf of players) or don't have season tickets, I don't know why anyone would object to that idea.

Waking up and waiting til noon on Sunday for football or getting a game to watch at 9am...no brainer, sign me up!!!

I highly doubt the NFL is concerned about CFB, at least not at this time. CFB ratings are also down.

Total College Football viewing through Week 2:

Sum of Nine Nationally Rated Networks: -8%
FOX/FS1: +127%.

When the final MNF numbers come in, total viewing of the 7 NFL Week 1 windows will surpass total viewing of the 49 CFB windows thru Week 2.

Spread out the kickoff times a bit and have more games on National TV. Similarly to how college football does it on Saturday with kickoffs starting at Noon EST going all the way to 9 or 10 PM EST. There's no reason there shouldn't be games on all day on Sunday in addition to MNF.

As it is now, if you don't have an extra package, you only get 5 games? 6 once the Saturday night games start. I guess also 6 in week 1 because of the MNF double header. There should be twice as many games accessible to everyone on national TV.

You mess with my final hour of the early games on Redzone on Sundays, and we'll have problems!!!

Therein lies the problem. There is enough parity where many games are like watching paint dry. Most teams aren't good enough or bad to really stick it to another team, so you get games that are wholly boring because they're pretty evenly talented. They don't make big mistakes nor do they take any real risks. They're just trying to get through their 16 games and perhaps pick up a wild card spot.

Exhibit A that CFB garners more attention from my perspective. I only watch ex-LSU players and I don't have a fav NFL team.

Exhibit B. I watched the Saints opener Mon night b/c it's the local team and AP back in Minn. When they switched to the booth of Rex "Foot Fetish" Ryan with Beth "Bull Dyke" Mowins and introduced the opposing minority head coaches, only to later go to Sergio, the spastic minority sideline reporter, I flipped channels with the quickness.

The only thing that could have been more apropos in that broadcast would have been a National Anthem with both teams kneeling and facing away from the flag, along with Micheal Sam suited up and coming off the field after a big play to suck face with Sergio.

Somebody give me a shout when the Super Bowl comes around so I can make sure to get on a pool.
