Yeah, one of the best backside tackles in the history of the NFL, with a slightly shortened career. When you are the best OL on 3 Super Bowl champions, you get a little leeway on career length.

Is there a Robert Smith I'm missing on there other than the RB? Because I'm trying to figure out how his name is on the list. No way in hell he should be in the HoF.

Doug Flutie( I really like him ) is any more deserving? Smith was a damn good back & retired at his peak , but isn't HOF worthy .

We don't understand the nominee process I guess.

Light made 3 pro bowls and 1 all pro team. That matters for offensive linemen.

He’s got 0.0% chance of making the hall of fame

The fact Richmond Webb is not in the HOF is criminal.

Career highlights and awards
2× First Team All-Pro (1992, 1994)
2× Second Team All-Pro (1993, 1995)
7× Pro Bowl (1990–1996)
NFL 1990s All-Decade Team
PFWA All-Rookie Team (1990)
Miami Dolphins Honor Roll

I'd prefer Lewis over Everson Walls who some think deserves to be in the HOF.

McNair( Alcorn)
Lewis( Grambling)
Driver( Alcorn)
Smith ( Jackson State)
Otis Taylor ( Prairie View)

The rest ? They ain't SWAC.

How is Shawne Merriman not in the hall of fame? He was arguably the best LB in the league from 2005-2007.

I prefer looking at career stats and the eyeball test over All-Pros and Pro Bowl appearances. The problem with All-Pros is say you are Drew Brees playing in the era of Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Aaron Rodgers. You may have played well enough to be All-Pro but still finish second, third, or fourth in All-Pro voting half a dozen times or more. If you go by All-Pro selections you would be eliminating every outside linebacker in the 1980s not named Lawrence Taylor for another example. Pro-Bowl selections work the other way. When you get enough people backing out of the game you end up in situations where Matt Cassel and Andy Dalton end up being selected to the Pro Bowl.

Richmond Webb not being in when some other OL are is a travesty.

Man, lineman really don't get any love. You can pick all 5 nominees from this group and still have some that deserve it left out.

0% chance of ever getting in, much less first ballot.

1. He's a punter
2. He had a short career for a punter
3. He only went to 2 pro bowls.

If Robert Smith gets in the hall of fame I would be fricking floored. There are so many running backs with his stats and accomplishments out there.
