What's the point of conferences anymore?
You're gonna have a 20 team SEC and a 20 team Big Ten and that's about the end of things. May as well be the NFL with AFC and NFC.
It's a joke. The west coast teams in the Big Ten. Stanford and Cal in the ACC. The SEC swallowing up old SWC and Big 12 territory. May as well scrap the conference thing and go to an NFL format. That's what big tv and the almighty dollar would want.
What's funny is that everyone here knows UNC brings subpar value to the SEC in football, yet everyone views it as a way of spreading the conference footprint. Everyone is worried about money too when money is the least of the SEC's concerns.

Maybe to you it's about the football games, but it's not to the people making the decisions that shape these conferences. It's why schools like Maryland and Rutgers were added to the B1G. I don't think I could fill one hand with the number of B1G fans that wanted either of those schools.

Maryland and Rutgers might as well have come from a different era though

That was a decade ago. Markets don’t carry the weight as they once did due to streaming and the death of cable. It’s about total eyeballs and how the bigger brands brings in those numbers.

Clemson doesn't do a thing for the sec, we already own that state.
We need Virginia or tech.

Or maybe Tulane will finally get into the ACC...
That would make more sense than SMU, Stanford, and Cal.

Would be hilarious if FSU gets left out in the cold
They had their chance in 92 and chose the easier route. So we went with SC and Arkansas

Virginia Tech's record over the last 7 years in the bad ACC.
6-7
7-6
3-8
6-7
5-7
8-5
6-7
Combine that with being terrible in basketball and I can't understand why the SEC would want them. The days of Vick and Beamer ball are over.

Always rumors but around Virginia is that UVA wants Big 10....as a VT fan just makes no sense.
As for VT...football fan base is still crazy passionate despite sucking for the past decade.
If we got into the SEC it would help us a lot with recruiting as we.lose many of the better in state players to the SEC and Penn St...all that being said the SEC would be taking a team that does not have strong rivalries....UT would be one...maybe South Carolina from the independent days....and only SEC school.in our top 20 games.played against is Kentucky and not sure anyone outside of those two schools would care
But if SEC believes in charity I am all for it

Is the the next step of just turning college football into an AFC/NFC setup?
Posted on 7/27/25 at 7:06 pm to Hulk Hogan
If I’m adding ACC schools, Clemson, UNC, Florida St, and V-Tech are at the top of my list. Next tier would be G-Tech, Louisville, and Miami. Final tier would be NC St, Duke, Wake, and Virginia. Boston College, Syracuse, Cal, Stanford, SMU, and Pitt are in the hell no category.

1. FSU
2. Clemson
3. NC St
4. VT

3. NC St
4. VT

If I’m the Big Ten, there’s a few more options if I can’t get any of those top 4… Miami, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Pitt, Cal, and Stanford would fit the Big Ten but not the SEC.

I’ll rather Miami over both

UNC is barely in the top 10 of their own conference during the playoff era, and that’s with them being in the weakest ACC division, when they had divisions.
