I would pass on Clemson if I were the SEC and go after one of the Virginia schools to get into a new market.

Why do you give a shite about the market?

Who the hell wants to play Virginia in anything, or travel to Virginia to play them in anything?

Virginia Tech is only good in football, and they aren't even good in that anymore.

Neither of them feel like SEC schools
FSU and Clemson are SEC schools. Always have been.
This isn't 2005 anymore where we want to expand tv viewership so cable companies can make more money. We can watch any game of any sport we want now. What we want, and what brings in more money, is a good product to watch, and Virginia is a shite product in football. Hardest of hardest no's to Virginia to the SEC.

SI article from 4 months ago

In his view, the SEC would actually be more interested in North Carolina and Virginia, thereby expanding its actual territory, rather than taking Clemson and Florida State, which reside in states where the conference already has a pronounced footprint.

“If you look at what the SEC has done in recent years, they just went out and got Texas and Oklahoma, the premier state schools. That’s important to remember,” Finebaum said on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning.

“North Carolina is a standalone. It’s a preeminent university, but it also has the good athletics and it used to have good basketball. Virginia doesn’t have that, but they are a brand.”

In addition to expanding its geographical coverage, the SEC would also bring on two institutions that have an academic credibility than Clemson and FSU don’t have.

“Clemson is inferior to South Carolina as an academic institution,” he said.

“Then you have the same situation with Florida State. They are behind the other state schools, as well as private schools, in Florida.”

He added: “So I don’t think either one of them have much to offer, and quite frankly I’m not really sure why the Big Ten would want either one of them.”

Is the Clemson part even true? I’m not sure why anyone would give a shite about this anyway

We need to go back to 10 teams and play a 9-game conference schedule.

The 10 team league are gone. There is going to be 2/3 super conferences left with big tv contracts

I thought South Carolina had an agreement with Georgia and Florida to block Clemson, FSU, and Georgia Tech from any expansion.

I’m ok with it since they aren’t going to ask me anyway.

people really need to be able to tell the difference between sports illustrated reported something and a content agregator site hosted by sports illustrated

What's the point of conferences anymore?

You're gonna have a 20 team SEC and a 20 team Big Ten and that's about the end of things. May as well be the NFL with AFC and NFC.

SEC is in a war with Big10 for foot prints for big tv deals

FSU does nothing, florida ownz the state already
Clemson does nothing, SC cant do

North Carolina is an add
Same with one of Virginia schools.

Won’t look up what else they did but they hosted a baseball regional even if they choked it…

It’s not about footprints, it’s about good football games

That's adorable. 13 of the 16 teams in the conference have made it to Omaha since their last appearance. And 1 of those 3 failures made it to the final 2 years earlier

As a football-only member at reduced $ share? Sure. As a full member? They flat out don't belong

The reality of the situation and my preference don't align. That doesn't mean that I am going to change my opinion.

Why bother with major conferences anymore. Soon it will be two massive leagues with the SEC and Big Ten and the Big 12 as a catch all drawer.
