I'd be pretty funny if Jerry Jones actually did put him up to complaining and lost them both even more money by doing so.

Couldn't be more wrong. According to 2016 gross sales, Pizza Hut is the top pizza company by far with $13.7M. Papa John's is at no.4 with $3.49M.

Eta: $13.7B and $3.49B not million

Only morons believe Papa’s claims of blaming his sales dip on that shite, but some of these Trumptards lose their minds over every fricking thing regardless of facts.

Papa saw an opportunity to cut some costs and get a nice sales bump from gullible Trumpites

I don't think I've seen a single Pizza Hut commercial during an NFL game, whereas Papa Johns is synonymous with the NFL and Peyton Manning.

SWEET KILLSHOT THOUGH BRO!!!

To be fair, you've literally described 90%+ of American society currently. Confirmation bias is running rampant, along with people just sitting in their own political bubbles and not listening to new ideas.

Papa Johns with Peyton Manning is more linked to NFL football than any other corporate sponsor.

I would probably link Budweiser with the NFL before Papa Johns.

youd be surprised. ive had people in my office contemplate dropping usaa becuase of their sponsership of the nfl

Interesting you used the word contemplate. So no one has dropped USAA and it’s a load of hot air from people trying to look like they give a shite. Papa Johns isn’t losing sales to the NFL. It’s losing sales because it has a terrible quality/price point. Go look at Domino’s stock price if you don’t believe me. It’s absurd.

I guess you don't want to hear their most recent sales report then?

FWIW, Papa John's sales weren't even down.

Their sales increased 1% in North American same store comps. They disappointed based on their guidance, but it's not like they're losing money. EPS was up YoY as well.

Budweiser sales have been going down for a while due to the craft beer boom. That's why companies like Anheuser Busch have been buying up all the small breweries the last 5 years or so. Odds are the if you drink a craft beer it's now owned by one of the major beer producers in the country.

People just don't like mediocre, bland, generic food and drink anymore.

Same thing is happening to the casual dining industry too. Restaurant chains like Applebee's, Chilie's, and Buffalo Wild Wings are taking a beating.

I have a hard time believing Papa John's would see a significant drop in that short time span to identify the protests as the issue

They specifically released a metric to NFL officials showing sales drop during NFL games
quote:

Papa John's in-game pizza sales have fallen since President Donald Trump encouraged people to boycott the NFL in late September, sources told the Sports Business Journal.

NFL spokesperson Joe Lockhart confirmed to Sports Business Journal that Papa John's had expressed concerns with the league. Further, Lockhart said that other top sponsors have expressed similar concerns as the NFL's TV ratings slump and political battles play out in the league.

I have no dog in this fight, but I watch a decent amount of football and cannot remember ever seeing a Pizza Hut commercial and would not associate them at all with the NFL. I don't particularly care one way or the other if Papa Johns is hurting, because I don't eat their pizza.
