That's like half their attendance

Sounds like a mutiny to me and we know what happens to mutineers.

PNC Park is an absolute gem of a ballpark.

The Pirates owner is awful.

We went last season the weekend the Cardinals were there and Tennessee was playing at Pitt. On the Friday night there were more Tennessee fans at the game than Pirates fans. All weekend there were more Cardinals fans.

The ease of getting to and from the stadium and how well the stadium is set up should mean they have good crowds. Concessions are on the cheaper end for MLB, which is still a little high, but the owner is cheap as frick.

The highest free agent contract they've ever given out was Ivan Nova in 2016 and that was 3 years for $26MM.

Found this in another article; PSIEU = Pittsburgh Stadium Independent Employees Union

quote:

PSIEU President and 44-year employee Mike Kelly said ushers earned $9 an hour in 2005. Almost two decades later, Kelly said they are making $9.35 an hour.

"Acrisure is making $15 this year," Kelly said. "They're offering us $12.40. That math is pretty simple."

The union claims the average usher pay across the country is $13.80. At the latest negotiation, the union said the Pirates offered them $12.40.

PNC Park ushers say they want a fair wage

I used to go to Pittsburgh for work a good amount. I would always try to time my trips in the summer because I often stayed downtown and would just walk across the bridge and grab $5-10 tickets as the game was starting if I didn’t have something I had to do that night. Someone needs to buy that team, they would clean up with better ownership

With LSU's Crews projected to the #1 player drafted, & the Pirates having the first pick, doesn't look good for Crews to get paid as he should.

I haven't been to every stadium (or even most of them), but I'd be willing to bet there aren't three nicer ballparks than PNC. Fantastic place to watch a game, especially if you can get on the third base side as the sun sets over the river.

They are offering a 33% raise. Sounds like a decent raise to me

They still spend their budget on the draft. There are rules around it they must adhere to. He will be fine.

And he will replace Bryan Reynolds when they decide Reynolds is too expensive and form a nice young cluster of players with Oneil Cruz and Kebryan Hayes.

They have been ranked in the bottom 5 in attendance over the last few years. Been averaging less than 19,000 fans since 2017. Heard the owner is very cheap even though he is worth more than a billion dollars.

How long has the union been involved and why have they not been able to negotiate a better deal before now?

Go figure Pittsburgh has to deal with unionized employees for ticket scanning

They should automate the ticket scanning process and employ 1/3 of the current workforce as the solution.

it is my favorite of the new age parks they started building in the late 90's early 2000's and beyond, I'd put the Giant's park as my second favorite.

PNC is awesome, the skyline is awesome, Pittsburg is a very underrated city IMHO and loved both times I went there - would go again and would recommend it.

Only reason fans will notice, is because no one will be screaming in their ear about cold beer here

With them not working, pirate attendance goes down 80% for games.
