I hear sports radio people trying to make the case for Clark to be the highest scorer in college basketball. Not just womens but all ncaa basketball. As if there is no difference between men’s basketball and women’s. As of there is no difference in the game in general today versus 1967-1970…

The 2 are as different as rocks and cotton candy.

Some Points of difference -

Subjective-
If pistol Pete had played against women- he would have scored far more points than he did. You’ll just have to trust me on that.

If Clark played against men, she would have far fewer points. You’ll just have to trust me on that too.

Objective-
Pete could only have 3 seasons because freshman could not play varsity then. Clark had 4 seasons.
Pete had no 3 pt line. Clark did.
Pete had no shot clock (to speed up game)- Clark did.

Anyone trying to conflate the 2, have an agenda.
They kneel during the star spangled banner.
They have really short hair and nose piercings. They wear black shoes all the time.

I think the comparison’s dumb too but if people are gonna talk about 3-PT line I feel it is only fair to wonder how many points Caitlyn Clark would have if her dad was her coach and let her shoot 40 attempts per game.

She’d average .2 points per game. Maybe.

She wouldn’t score 10 in a college men’s rec league.

I don’t know if Dad being coach would help, but she usually gets 40 shots per game:

Can you read a stat line? She has zero games this year with 40 or more shots. Are you counting free throws as well?

Let's also talk about how her point total right now would be 2514 if she didn't have the 3 point line and get her freshman year points to count towards her total. Comparing her to Pistol is ridiculous no matter you try to do it.

Nobody seriously thinks Clark is better than Pistol Pete except hot take guys who are looking for anything to get a reaction. So congrats I guess

There’s no comparison here. It’s impressive what Clark has accomplished, but no one who is not trolling would say it’s more impressive than what Maravich accomplished in only 83 games.

Saw this on twitter a month ago. Tim Bourret:

“Much will be made of Caitlan Clark soon breaking Pete Maravich career scoring record (3667). If she does it in her 130th career game (current pace), she will have played 47 more games than Maravich. If Maravich played 130 games at his 44.2 PPG he would have scored 5744.”

Don't forget she also puts a smaller ball through the same size hoop. Simple geometry says that's easier.

That’s the only number that matters… A 3 season avg of 44.2 Ppg. No player will ever do this again. Man or woman.

Everyone loves to go to the extremes on both sides, every single time.
