Off topic but imagine if the Waltons liked college football or Arkansas, man they would be a powerhouse in the NIL era. Their combined net worth is 228 billion dollars. Crazy
Instead, they employ Sam Pittman

I could have Elon’s wealth and I’m not giving it to a bunch of entitled 18 year old brats who have accomplished nothing in the real world. Sports shouldn’t be that important. But to each his own and i fully support your right to spend your money in any way you choose.

In a similar vein, Arthur Smith has been reported to be a candidate for the North Carolina job. Can he just make his dad have Fedex bankroll the roster?

Copy Oregon couldn’t earn one so they need to buy one. It will mean so much if it happens.

I don't have a problem with it overall. Billionaires and millionaires have been giving money to college athletes for a long time.

I do hope some of them are more interested in charitable causes. Sports are entertainment but no more innately important that other types of entertainment.

100 years from now I think Knight's charitable giving might leave a more meaningful legacy.

Feel like it would be tough to be proud of a Ship that was only won bc they had a crazy donor buying their talent. College sports are getting to be a bit too much like the MLB.

Or European soccer where there are 1-4 “haves” per league at most. They obviously have other rivalries and things to play for there which keeps fandom high but in a system where we’re used to SOME semblance of at least supposed ability to move up to championship level I think you’d see a lot of fading interest.

So Phil Knight is Oregon's owner and Larry Ellison is Michigan's owner. Is there a list of the other owners of the rest of the NFL minor league teams?

If Silicon Valley wants to take over CFB, they can do it in about 10 seconds. They could make Stanford or San Francisco State the epicenter of CFB if they wanted, and there's nothing anyone could do about it.

"Uncle Phil," as he's known to Oregon players, is doing everything he can to deliver a national title for his beloved Ducks.
Norm MacDonald also had an Uncle Phil...

It has changed. The NIL plus the Portal/transfer rules make it way different than it was just a couple of years ago.

I agree with this. Doubt Oregon wins it all....especially if they have a rematch with Ohio State. We all know how rematches go.

It would be a good game im not super terrified of a rematch though

This gets overblown. Its Phil Knights personal money.

This was known a few years ago, when Knight began to face his mortality.

They better enjoy now. His kids didn't go to Oregon and don't share his love.

This gravy train will end.
