owlie, do you think there would be limits on how many could go to a particular school?
some of the players families were already making calls,,,
in PART that explains the timing,,
expect OSU to pick up 3 immediately
Pitt 2
even RICE has had calls from from players from Texas I like our chances for 2 O linemen,,and a kicker

I definitely agree with this statement but maybe not the choice of words I would use here knowing this whole situation.

I know this is early speculation/rumors but if true, isn't this basically saying that Penn State will temporarily or permanently be booted from the Big Ten?

Am I missing something or isnt that tantamount to a "death penalty"?
You aren't missing anything. That is the death penalty right there. That's why I don't think any of that crap is true because we've been told by people that the death penalty is off the table. But we've also been told that what's coming down is worse than the death penalty. I don't know what could be worse but I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

I think it's a shame that JoePalester is dead. I wish he were alive to have to face the shame and humiliation of all this. Seeing him watch his entire life's work crumble into nothing would be the best justice available for these kids.

Does this mean they could transfer to USCw?

I have felt from the beginning that the B1G would boot PSU. This makes Rutgers really happy. Maybe, just maybe, the B1G goes hard after Syracuse. They would love to get in that market and it builds the bball foundation as well.

Why wouldn't the Big10 boot PSU? If the rumors are true, that's 1 game that will not be available to air on television a year.
Screw that noise
Screw that noise

Even though clearinghouse won't have the option of being able to decide..I'm sure the NCAA higher ups will not allow it.

I'll believe it when I see it. this is basically the death penalty which several sources have already said is not happening.

I could see this being it actually. It's not really the death penalty and this would make me want the death penalty.

"Unprecedented" NCAA penalties for Penn State to be announced Mon. at 9AM EST

You understand that the 14th amendment doesn't apply to PSU in an NCAA action right? You sound like an idiot talking about due process in this situation.
You taken constitutional law or administrative law? It's not always clear cut, but when private companies, universities, or governing bodies do not follow their own published procedures, the case is actionable.
"However, Emmert is expected to detail that the action is backed by a special provision allowing such a step if he receives approval from the NCAA's board of directors.
Sounds like he is following a published procedure.

Me too. Reporters are obviously racing each other to be FIRST! with conflicting rumors flying around.

A little food for thought. Do you think Penn State would continually sell out Happy Valley if they were playing the likes of Dayton, Penn, Villanova, Robert Morris, Bucknell, etc. week in and week out?

What about Boston College? All around decent sports. Good football tradition. Great academics (which is something the Big 10 places a big emphasis on). You get the Boston market...

Hell no. They had 4 non-sell outs last year, including a couple of games where more than 10,000 seats were available.
