Sources: Fine could be between $30 million and $60 million

Goes on to say the funds would likely go toward an endowment for various charities for children.

I personally don't want any school to get the death penalty because it goes beyond the school. The DP in this day and age would hurt the conference as well as the school that gets executed.

And?

We have a place that knowingly harbored a vile, sick, evil child rapist, and allowed him to thrive unabated. But no, we can't let that HURT THE CONFERENCE.

Come on man. How the frick can you still be thinking about the conference? Get some perspective.

When children are getting raped, football doesn't matter anymore. You do what you have to do. Please just get that or GTFO.

Joe Pa really fricked the whole place all in the name of glory in football. Btw, child rape goes beyond the school too.

Odd thing about this whole mess.
I find that I cannot in any way, shape or form fathom the thought process of those that don't agree with me in this on this issue.

I can respectfully disagree with other on matters of religion and politics, it easy really. But on this issue it I find it tough if not impossible.
Children were harmed and and it was covered up to protect a football team and the MONEY it brought in. YOU CANNOT DISPUTE THIS

Children's lives for money, to me that the exchange that was made and endorsed by everyone along the way.
IF ever theres a time for the nuclear option,,if this isn't it, I don't know when is.

Completely agree. It's a cover up of one of the most vile acts you'll ever see. They need to burn

How is killing the Penn State football program going to right the wrongs of Sandusky?

It's frustrating. After arguing with one poster for about 10 pages, I just gave up. He couldn't see how ugly this is. He couldn't see how insidious this is. He couldn't see how this is way bigger than football. I just had to quit and tell him he wasn't a good person. Maybe not very mature, but that's how it feels after a while.

Someone still defending the program and its right to exist as it does now is either
a) woefully uninformed
b) in denial
c) a bad person

Sorry, that's the way I see it. Unfathomable is the correct word.

Its not about Sandusky,, can you really not understand this

its about the cover up, to protect a football program and the money it represented.
It was systemic, those in power were all a part of the cover up, the same cover up that allowed the abuse to continue.
But the NCAA punishment is not about the acts of Sandusky its about the acts of University Officials thats used their positions to cover up the original crimes and allow all subsequnet crimes to take place. for money and prestige based upon a game

Maybe this is what Emmert is banking on. Perhaps the PR of an appeal would be so bad for PSU that Emmert has free reign to do anything he wants, regardless of the NCAA procedures he breaks in doing so.

An appeal thru any Court procedures is the LAST thing PSU and the Trustees want. If that were to happen, the NCAA would be granted deFacto Subpoena power thru depositions/discovery. Talk about Pandora's Box being opened.

Trust me when I say EVERYONE in Pennsylvania wants this to die a quick death. They do not want the investigations to expand into Second Mile.

Nothing to see here, move along......

My best guess is that they didn't pay any attention to the trial, the Freeh Report or any news that came out since November of 2011. They're still arguing as if there was one isolated event, mistakes were made, and the bad guy was taken care.

What has come out since then makes it appear that Penn State football was essentially operating as a pro team with absolutely no institutional oversight by the university. That's why the hammer is coming down.

So is it just going to be a fine, or is it going to be the loss of scholarships and bowl games, too?

its gonna be close to this

FINE 30-60 Million

PSU has agreed in advance not to appeal
if they do the NCAA will vote to remove them in Jan at annual NCAA meeting, requires a 2/3 vote

they already have full support of all members of incoming and outgoing NCAA board members if it comes to that
