This is a very stupid way of thinking. This is like saying since Pete Carrol and Reggie Bush was gone from USC they shouldn't have been punished. Should it be ok for a program to just fire the coach and tell the NCAA "It's ok we fired him"
Yes. The NCAA should hold those responsible who committed the infractions.

You're going to be disappointed, there are actually a bunch of people in this thread that think exactly that way

And "those" = its member institutions.

Right. When L Ron Hubbard died, Scientology ceased to be a dangerous cult.
So what you're saying is that EVERY single person involved with the athletics program is 'in on the cult'?

What will them getting destroyed to for you? How does this whole scandal effect you? Will them playing football effect you?
Now..on the other hand...tons of people will be effected that are from there...for no other reason than people wanting blood for something that doesn't effect their personal life what so ever.
Oh sorry...everything you know is gone and done? Business shutting down? Sorry...but you see..I need to see blood..and then forget about it one week when I start focusing on another lynching story.
and to the bama fan with his sob tornado story..that's retarded

Is there a chain of command?

What could have been done here that involved program ethics that would not be considered a crime?
The athletic department allowing Sandusky to remain around the program despite suspicion of his actions? What about the money that was used for these trips with the boys to bowl games and etc? At one point it was reported that Sandusky offered walk-on positions on the team to kids in exchange for hushing them up over the abuse. Just to throw out a few.

And they are by laying the hammer down on Penn St.
A lot of you fail to understand the purpose of a university is to educate kids not play football.
If it was your kid getting raped there I wonder if you would feel the same way?

Tornado came through, destroyed countless lives and our town. Haven't we been well on our way to complete recovery. Life goes on.
Yeah...don't talk to me about the tornado. I was there, I saw it, and I know people who lost their lives. Some of us may have moved on from that day but not everyone will ever be "completely recovered" from what happened that afternoon.

If my kid was getting raped at Penn State, I would want Jerry Sandusky, Joe Paterno, and those involved in the cover up tar and feathered.
The 2012 Penn State football team being punished would not satisfy me in any way.

PLEASE answer this question. If a university hires a coach who cheats or commits horrible crimes should they be free from punishment if they fire said coaches? Even though they helped cover up the cheating or crimes?
And to your name me some people still there question....it doesn't matter. They WERE there while the raping was going on.

Nothing. You're the one trying to personalize this with emotional appeals and juvenile insults because you do not have facts or logic on your side.

If all of the major players are gone/dead/in jail then what does it matter?

So now the only requirement is that they were there? They didn't have to know?

Unconstitutional.

If the coach cheats, the program should face NCAA sanctions as per their bylaws. If the coach does murder and university officials cover it up then they should all be thrown in jail with no other penalties added to the university. Punish the individuals who did the crime, not the university.

Yes, but you see, they are going to get more responsible leadership with or without NCAA sanctions. The people wanting justice have already won. Sandusky is going to jail for the rest of his life and others will soon follow him to the stockade. The fire has already been reduced to cinders and you are wanting to put nitroglycerin on it by seeking more blood in a case that has already been solved and taken care of.
Yes they will. Rules were broken by a member institution of the NCAA. The rules set forth by the NCAA and agreed to by PSU. The heinousness of the crimes and infractions warrants a heftier and stricter punishment.
Not punishing PSU would be like having a pedo go to jail then not having to register on a sex offender list.

Why are you still trying to argue criminal justice? That's not what the NCAA does.
