Are you implying that I"m participating in cancel culture?
I didn't say it was wrong to do so, but let's not pretend you're doing something totally different than, say, the MyPillow guy who was canceled. For political reasons, a company is being boycotted. That's what you're doing.
Point being, maybe not you since I have no idea who you are, the same exact people who complain about cancel culture are the same exact people who boycott companies. Overriding point is those folks don't actually have anything against canceling companies/people, they only have something against when it's done when they disagree with it. I don't think that can be logically argued against, it IS so.

The China stuff was what did it for me. The other political crap was just the icing on the cake. Will never actively pursue any NBA content as far as I can tell.
"cancel culture"
Holy shite you are insufferably stupid. Or straining so hard to be a smug contrarian like others on here you're going to give yourself e-hemorrhoids.
Did that poster say he was going to picket sponsors of the NBA until they stop pledging allegiance to China? Did that poster say he was going to vandalize Silver's home or harass his children for his league's hypocrisy? No.
He made a personal decision not to patronize the NBA. In no way is that equivalent to the Marxist Left's cancel culture. Of course, you knew that. If you didn't, you're as stupid as you appear.

Not exactly. There is a difference in saying “I’ll no longer support a business because of XYZ” and “I’m going to actively and systematically try to get XYZ deplatformed, censored, and banned because I don’t agree with their point of view.”

The fact that no one can watch their local team on any legal streaming service doesn't help.
Sinclair Media can EAD
Link goes into what I'm talking about

The NBA’s collapse may not be surprising in light of recent polls finding that basketball fans feel that the league has become far too wrapped up in politics.
Maybe. It might just be that the product sucks.
Guys at Lifetime go harder than NBA players.

Now that is anger
Hey man,let me ask you a question? How would you feel if a white player in the nba told you that he doesnt want to speak to you or want anything to do with you because of the color of your skin. I'm sure people of all colors would be upset about that and I'm sure alot of black folks have been through something like that.
But what if nobody cared that he said that and you would lose your career for doing the same
Eta: I keep reading this message over and over. I wrote the damn thing and I still cant fathom that this happened. Yall, lebron straight up said,on a tv interview, that he has no reason to talk to whites or be around them
What if jokic said that?
That shite fricking happened, in real life, and the only way I found out was because someone posted on here about it days later. Think about that.we are hated at it's ok to everyone.
I'm gonna try not to be wrong on this,so I will leave it at that, but i think his quote was worse than what i wrote.

This is not an NBA problem, this is an across the board problem. They have over sold sports over all. I think this started with Fox about 30 years ago. ESPN then moved it to another level.
No one lets the game come to them. Every single game is over sold. Then they turn off viewers by cramming advertisements up your arse for 2-3 hours. Then stack social issues on top of that and it is setting up for complete failure.
Look at the Olympics, it used to be one of the greatest things to watch. Now it is 30 minute sob stories about every stinking athlete overcoming adversity then 3 minutes of high lights.

How are these numbers affected, potentially inflated, because you can't walk into a bar without them having multiple NBA games on during this time of the year. Locally, the only saving grace is if there is a male bartender, then they'll throw on baseball games unless someone specifically requests an NBA game

The NBA sucks as a sport now in general let alone all the political stuff.
Star players are constantly hurt or resting, there’s hardly any defense anymore, and coaching seems to be pointless.
It’s not fun to watch anymore.

All valid points except one part.

Watch the plays Stan VAn Gundy calls out of timeouts and watch the Pels try to close a game.

How is boycotting and cancel culture the same?

Problem???????
Why would I have a problem? In just saying it's not an accurate name because 95 percent of the board is anti woke. Most of us all have the same views on the woke bullshite. I said it's just not a true assessment and it's really not debatable which way this thing leans.
I'm assuming you are liberal
Eta: so far we have 75 posts in this thread. We have 2 people that would be considered woke .
The upvote downvote ratio is 38 upvotes for non woke views and 0 votes for woke or liberal views.
But man this is the more soy board!!!!
Am I in the twilight zone lol

If this board was the more soy board I can promise you ,it wouldnt be visited by me or as many people.
shite if you exclude bama fans then you got like 10 liberals vs 300 conservatives .
Which brings me to a question I've asked before. How the frick is it that the majority of liberals on this website have that ugly as A next to their names?
Gosh damn ,I'm running around my house looking for Ashton Kutcher now. Is this you c on z? I'm being punked.

None of us care if other people watch the nba, if your viewpoint aligns with them and you enjoy the product then watch it and have fun.
If we acted like the left we would want the NBA disbanded, games canceled and the players put in jail for their views.
See the difference dumbass? We can not watch something bc we don’t agree with the message but be fine with it existing
Posted on 4/19/21 at 4:05 pm to FLTech
Not surprising. The NBA in its current form is a horrible product.
Posted on 4/19/21 at 4:12 pm to FLTech
NBA has to:
1) Get a handle on the local broadcast rights situations. Sinclair and others have completely fricked fans and its just getting worse.
2) Figure out a way to promote teams and to give all teams a fair shake, instead of the same 5 teams and big markets. That worked from the 80s to the past few years, but it no longer works. The NFL model works. Every team should have a chance.
3) and to accomplish that... get rid of Max Contracts, go to a hard cap.
4) Get politics out of the game more.

Somehow my post was misconstrued

I'm trying to figure out how that's happening but I cant figure it out.
Are you saying I'm soy because I said that this boards is more conservative than liberal. Which is great to me because I cant stand this shite that's going on.
I'm just trying to say that most of us are conservative.
How is that soy ,or untrue?
