Pretty accurate description of my attitude last night in LA NSFW language

High fiving exhausted stumbling Astro fans in the airport feels so good.

The Giants are hiring Alonzo Powell away from us to be their hitting coach. Maybe Beltran wants an asst. hitting coach gig.

They really need to find a spot for Beltran, if he wants it, imo.

I'm still in shock.

Just so many guys got us to this point and then through the finish line. We all know the obvious but there's so many others.

Heck Francisco Liriano got a HUGE loogy out in game 7 of the World Series. Peacock who was all but left for the buzzards going into spring training pitched some of the most key innings in this World Series. Cameron Maybin stole a base in game 2 which caused George springer to change his approach and completely change the direction of this World Series. Lance McCullers was seemingly left to be a complete afterthought going into the playoffs gets us through the ALCS and WS. I could go on and on and on.

Agreed

I dunno if it's been posted but we hired Joe Espada to replace Cora. He was the 3B coach for the Yankees and I had seen him mentioned as an internal candidate to be manager there. He was very popular with their Latin and younger guys apparently. Seems like a great move

He was also in the Yankees front office at one point

Sounds like a guy we could be replacing again next year. Which I’m fine with if he’s that good.

Hey guys....a message from GrandDad. I’m fairly sure he won’t show his face in these threads...

you have a good memory. I was pulling for the dodgers and they lost. I still hate the American league and hate the way the astros got hosed to change leagues. but you want me to eat crow and the best i'll give you is that when you are the worst team in the majors for 4 years and get all of those high draft picks you should end up with a good team. that formula is not the tough one; the tough one is when those first fat contracts come due. but congrats are in order for the astros; not you.

Here is a GrandDad gem I just found addressed to you Prom... Apparently sabermetrics are bullshite....

quote:

sabermetrics is a bull shite name for beanes business model. it sounds statistically superior but it doesn't really use statistics. for example, he postulates that giving up an out using a sacrifice to advance a runner is less likely to produce a run than let a hitter, ANY HITTER, swing away. i call bull shite on that math. of course, he's in the american league and who the frick bunts in the american league? moneyball made him the bucks and all he did was reveal the poor man's survival techniques in mlb. fire the scouting dept and use obp instead of ba. and people bought it. common sense is common sense and there is no substitute for it.

Let's examine this:

2012, 1-1: Correa - Lunhow's first draft, inherited the mess that gave Astros 1-1
2013, 1-1: Mark Appel - Never played for the Astros, went to Phillies in trade deal for Giles
2014, 1-1: Brady Aiken - Didn't sign
2015, 1-2: Bregman - Diamondbacks passed on Bregman for Dansby Swanson

Eduardo Perez explained on ESPN Radio today how Darvish was tipping his pitches.

When it was a fastball, he'd put his hand in his glove with a set grip and no movement. If it was off-speed (slider mostly), the hand would move in the glove as he was re-adjusting his grip.

I was really hoping for Beltran to get the bench coach role. I'd love for him to stay around in a coaching role with these guys.
