How did you become a Canadiens fan?
When the Stars nosedived in the second half of the season, I was looking for a team to pull for. When they beat Tampa and Dallas lost in the 1st round I decided to pull for them. They have that great history of winning 15 out of 24 Stanley Cup Championships from 1955-1979. They won five straight from 1955-1960, four out of five from 1964-1969. Then four straight from1975-1979.. They won eight before then from 1917-1953 too, but they were the best team ever from 1955-1979.

Since then, they've had three in 47 years. They are the only Canadian team I've ever felt sorry for.

But the Cubs were always on WGN every game too. What made you pick Braves over them?

I don't remember much about the 1993 Station Cup run. But the Canadiens won a bunch of playoff games in OT. And McSorley was penalized for an illegal stick in Game 2. Canadiens tied the score shortly thereafter. Won it OT. And the whole series flipped.

Fair enough. Many here appear to be so anti Canada I didn't expect anyone to suddenly pull for them unless they grew up a fan of them. Their fans are definitely more likeable than Maple Loafs fans.

I'm guessing Carolina takes this
Montreal is going to end these playoffs with ~15spg average whether they lose out or win the Cup

Idk how that’s not a penalty for too many men on the ice.

Some extremely fortunate calls for Montreal this game. The slash that resulted in their pp goal in the 2nd period was extremely soft

Turnovers came back to bite Montreal in the arse. They had gotten away with more than few in OT before that last one that led to the goal.

I know shots don't tell the entire story of a game, but Montreal should probably understand they got lucky in G7 v Tampa and need to get more in gear

Can't get outshot 38-12 and expect to win

Yeah certain games there can be a large disparity in shots but the game is a little closer than those indicate, but this was not one of those. Montreal was fortunate to get this game to an OT given how much Carolina controlled the game and established the forecheck.
