St Amant wil finish second in the district no matter the outcome on Thursday with the season finale against Dutchtown.
That's really surprising to me. I haven't seen them since early on in the season, but at that point they were no where near playoff quality. Goes to show ya.

John Ehret takes the district championship from Chalmette 3-1, their second win over us this season... they steal the #32 seed despite being #45 in the power rankings

I'm all for 1-8 hosting 4 team "regionals" just like the NCAA. Double elimination Thursday-Saturday. Then 1/8, 2/7, 3/6, 4/5, 1/8 winner vs 4/5 winner and 2/7 winner vs 3/6 winner followed by the state finals. All 2 out of 3 series after the first round, which is double elimination. It would take 4 weeks total, a week less than football.
Seems easy...
This is good in theory, but some fields don't have lights, meaning only 1 game could be played on Thurs and 1 game Fri. Then as many as 5 more games Sat, which there is not enough daylight for even if you started at 9am.
In addition, a team who lost its first-round game would have to win 3 games on Sat if they kept winning in the losers' bracket, and I don't think the LHSAA would go for that.
You could force the 8 hosts to secure a field with lights, but that would take away some teams' home field advantage.
All this considered, it might be best to just go to best-of-3 series throughout.

play some on Sunday...
also you can play a 7 game "NCAA" regional on each team's home field, just have the higher seed host each game
order of seeds, A, B, C, D. higher seed wins each game
Thursday games 4:00 at A, 4:00 at B
Friday games, 0-1 game 4:00 at C, 1-0 game 4:00 at A
Saturday games, 1-1 game 12:00 at A, Championship #1 4:00 at A
Monday, Championship #2 4:00 at A
if you can play at 7 play at 7. A,B,C get home games but A gets more

They looked really bad in the first half of the season. I didn't even know if they'd make the playoffs. They've improved a lot since and they split a series with Catholic and were competitive even when they lost. A team with young talent might have found their groove

You'd almost have to leave Sunday open for rainout makeups...then again, some school districts don't allow games on Sundays.

Looks good on paper, but let's plug in some real teams. Say A is Airline, B is Barbe, C is Chalmette, and D is Denham Springs.
Chalmette plays at Barbe Thursday at 4:00, say they lose, now they have to play at Chalmette Friday at 4:00, say they win, now it's back on the road to Airline for a 12:00 start Saturday. I just don't see it.

Does anyone have details of a Berwick forfeit to E D White. Berwick won 10-3 yesterday but I see on maxpreps that they forfeited.

from what i was told berwick's coach let a kid throw 9 2/3 when the max in a game is 9.

West Monroe took on LSU commit Matthew Beck tonight and chased him out of the game in the first inning with 9 runs. WM wins 14-0 in 4.5 innings to win the district title. Doubleheader at ASH tomorrow starting at 4.

How does a kid go 9 2/3 and win 10-3? You'd think with a 7 run lead after throwing 9 he'd take him out

West Monroe takes game 2 of the series with ASH 9-3. 2nd game of doubleheader to start in 20-30 minutes.

WM sweeps 12-1. Hopefully it's enough to move up to top 8 and host round 2.

Anyone have Barbe/Sam Houston results?
Posted on 4/22/16 at 10:36 pm to JJ27
Just give WM the trophy or bitch about how it's all against them. Who gives a frick

So was breaking Parkview's 16 year consecutive district championship streak. Last time I checked Brusly had more wins than Parkview had games played as well.
