We had a stellar defense. Nothing to be ashamed about. Our only regular* season losses that year were to top ten teams, which were all close games.
*Bowl games don’t count for Auburn.

That mulligan was bullshite. I am of the opinion that Bama had their chance and lost, then got an advantage by playing one less game and getting a Rest week by not playing in SEC champ game. Say LSU lost that SEC championship game? They are perhaps out of the NC game that year and Bama gets in, seems unfair, no? I’m not doubting Bama was the better team in that game but LSU played the absolute gauntlet schedule that year and top it off with having to beat Bama for the second time and it’s a mountain. bullshite mulligan it was.
