They’ve been stuffing their pockets for years and years as an independent, they were one of the first to have an exclusive TV contract

Like IU did for 9 games
Difference is that IU actually won their 2-3 big games.
ND lost both theirs.

They get one mulligan or they're out is the message.

I agree with you. Not into socialism and laugh at people who get the warm and cozies just cause they’re in a conference. I wish LSU had the nuts to get out on its own and unshackled. And wish more teams would do the same.

Yeah, Miami, Ole Miss, A&M, Oregon, Oklahoma all got in via their conference championship games!

Its reason 3668 why preseason polls are dumb. AP foolishly ranked them top 25 even with an 0-2 record.
If they had ranked them accordingly then, ND wouldn't even be in the discussion now

They benefited from losing 2 tough games early and then playing 10 straight creampuffs
They beat #16 USC, AP #23 Navy, and MWC champ Boise. Not saying that’s a murderers row, but it’s not “all cream puffs.”
They have better wins than Miami, which ironically hangs their hat on “we beat ND” who according to some aren’t good, and ND has 2 better losses.
Bama has a better win that was negated by getting blown out by the same team. Vandy is 2 spots ahead of USC. They also have 1 more loss, and loss to a team with a losing record.
It’s fricking horse shite Bama is in.

You’re assuming they’ll beat SMU. Freeman isn’t a very good coach it doesn’t seem like. He’s alot like Day, spoiled brat that got handed the keys to a perfect situation and hasn’t done anything but get beat when it matters. At least Day mostly wins. But I know you guys like him because he’s half black and so dreamy

They’d just join a jmu or Tulane type of conference

Personally, I dont think an independent school should be allowed in the CFP at all.
The G5s should also have their own playoff or not get automatic bids either.
But for ND, the brand they have created and their "storied" history, means nothing in todays landscape if you are not in a conference.
They stand to gain more by joining the ACC. Im sure they would have a lot more say in revenue if they joined and it would make the ACC a lot more relevant on the football side.
I have not looked into this at all, but I wouldnt be surprised if the ACC is willing to give them a bigger peice of the profits if they did join. It would be a win-win situation there.
Nothing would be stopping them from still scheduling USC every year as an OOC game that draws huge numbers.

Oh I'd love to see them in the SEC! the rest of us would truly be united as one against them!

When your argument includes Navy and a four loss Boise team as quality wins, you don’t have much of an argument.

I enjoy reading the “join a conference!!” folks.
I can’t tell if it’s jealousy or union-lovers. Join the union!
I am fine that ND chooses to be independent. I actually applaud it. There are risks and they sure as hell got a taste of that. But I respect that they go their own way and don’t follow the sheep, unions, etc

Ironically ND would probably be in if they were an ACC football member.
