No one said he was ashamed to make that statement.

He was courageous to make that statement in this day and age.

Hiring Kelly also made for an interesting war of words.
it’s a war that LSU clearly is losing right now. And if Freeman and ND win it all this year, we’ll never hear the end of it, especially when Kelly stumbles out of the gate next year into another disappointing season. We will be the laughing stock 10 times over.

Freeman and his demeanor are making me, a lifelong ND hater, into an ND fan. He's sharp, he's poised, his teams don't get rattled, and they play with a blur collar mentality that is unusual given the history of that program.

I genuinely enjoy his sideline interviews and post-game comments. From what you can see, which admittedly isn't much, he's the kind of guy you'd want your son to play for.

Also, his wife is a Betty.

agree, i was pulling for penn st, but found myself rooting for ND as the game went on...he doesn't seem to coach like he has a stick up his arse like kelly

I said it last night, but he’s kind of a 2020s Jim Tressel right now. Well liked, good human who cars about his players, plays good defense and special teams and usually does enough on offense

Yea I like Freeman, but just as an LSU fan I need them to lose the Natty. We'd never hear the end of it, and deservedly so honestly. We'd have a head coach that left a school because he felt he couldn't win a championship there and within three years of him leaving they win one. It's hard to recover from that slap in the face.

He means if Freeman were all black and not half Asian, he wouldn’t be likable. Basically, the guy is being a blatant racist.

He is born & raised in Ohio and played for Ohio State.
Would be interesting to watch him coach against his alma mater in the title game.

He has almost single-handedly made ND from one of a loathed team under Kelly to one that everyone begrudgingly or non-begrudgingly roots for now.

Impressive feat to say the least. He basically did the equivalent of making Duke basketball likeable.

I figure he will get some NFL looks either this cycle or next. He has the traits many great NFL coaches have.

Non-emotional, smart, non-panicking, well-coached tough teams with elite Special Teams play and a scheme/coordinator background who seems to get the most out of his players talents.

I could see the Bears making a run at him.

I think this is because ND fans are being obnoxious about their success, so that's my biggest hold up to compliment anything ND related. However, can't help but still say Freeman is a class act

I definitely agree Freeman is a class act. I always disliked Notre Dame, but after going to the Sugar Bowl last week; I like the team and fanbase. Our tickets were in the ND section and they were great.

Didn't notice the obnoxious ones, maybe cause I'm from Louisiana...

I mean he's a good coach and likeable, but top 2-3 all time? What has he done to make you like him THAT much?
