Before the rule suggestion I know some sales executive said, let's charge more for commercials. Then someone suggested let's lobby for a rules change to get more commercials in and charge more for commercials. That dude received an extra $100K bonus.

Greedy men in suits who care more about money than the product have ruined this great sport.

I’m far from some raging hippie communist that wants everyone to live in egalitarian communes where there is no money and everyone works for the sake of doing their best, but corporations have ruined damn near everything they touched in terms of quality for the sake of profit.

Because it’s not less add. It’s the same amount of ads and less football

I appreciated the fact that a 7:00 pm kickoff game ended at 10:00.

Maybe I'm getting old but staying up till 11:15 because the final 4 minutes of Memphis vs UCF takes an hour as they run up and down the field scoring 6 TD's in the last few minutes doesn't really appeal to me anymore.

sterile NFL

The NFL is the greatest sports product on the planet. It is far from "sterile"

Agreed. Not even 3 hours gone and the Nebraska game is almost over. frick this shite

They could have shortened games by not having 2 hour halftimes. College halftimes are so ridiculous. Not so bad if you're at the game and watching the band play and beer runs, but it is ridiculous at home.

The main thing that needed change is OT. CFB overtime rules is the absolute worst rule in all of sports. The fact that a team could go out there, lose 5 yards on a possession and still end up winning the game is so stupid. At least move the yardage to the 50. Don't start it in scoring range.

TV timeout schedule remains the same to get the ads in.

MLB did it right. They sped up the game by getting rid of all the downtime during the game while keeping the number of actual "plays" the same. College football actually did the unthinkable and reduced the number of plays in a game while keeping the downtime, which was already way too much, the same.

First down clock stoppages “to move the chains” feels like a gimmick to aid comebacks. You wanna stop the clock, get out of bounds. Or maybe don’t fall behind in the first place.

Have seen too many cheap 20 second comebacks.

If you want NFL rules watch the NFL.

I sense the change came from sponsors, and didn't originate with the rules committee. Which explains why all the media pundits have fallen in line so rapidly and completely.

Anything rule that tries to make college football more like the NFL is a bad thing.
