Why do we need to speed up the game?

The clock stoping after first downs was one of the rules I liked about college football. If you want NFL rules watch the NFL.

Agreed. Not even 3 hours gone and the Nebraska game is almost over. frick this shite

I like watching college football. I don’t want it shorter. You’re not going to have more people watch who never watched before since games are 30 minutes faster now.

Every single entity these days does their best to frick over their supporters to try to cater to people who will never care about them.

Because the same idiots who push for expanded playoffs won’t be happy until we turn college football into a clone of the sterile NFL.

Nah, the rule change was long overdue. But it seems like the networks are just showing more commercials.

Florida being down two possessions with 5 minutes left the game was already over

That's hardly enough time to sustain 2 drives anymore.

It sucks, Florida wasn’t going to comeback. But if you don’t think we’re gonna suffer from missing out on some amazing comebacks you’re mistaken.

These are college kids, not Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes out there.

It’s going to kill the drama of a lot of would be comebacks. I don’t like it.

Why? There was nothing wrong. The old rules worked well.

Football season is already relatively short, less on field plays is a horrible thing for fans.

No actual football fans wanted this.

I love CFB to death but games are just WAY too long. And yes I know that mostly the fault of commercials but anything that shortens the game is better. Same reason I hate the DH in baseball.

Helps a lot of teams with a lack of depth. Ground and pound teams won’t be as effective.

All the replay stoppages were a much bigger issue than stopping the clock after a 1st down

I gotta agree. Why couldn't they have at least made it stop at the 4 minute mark or something?

First downs still stop the clock under 2 minutes.

With the current era of passing and uptempo offenses it's ridiculous to stop the clock every first down.

Teams will adjust. Comebacks will still happen. People will still complain.

The OT rules are worse. They seriously need to go back to how it used to be

You are right.

And I never had an issue with the length of CFB games. I never found myself complaining, “this game is too long”.
