JMO, I think the online die hard community overestimates how many lay college football fans follow recruiting.

Put it in escrow or something for him.

ETA: There is nothing to stop him from having that company’s bottle in every Instagram/Twitter post he does. Especially if he’s not explicitly endorsing them.

I mean I doubt we are about to see him in national TV commercials. But enough people follow recruiting, at least casually, to understand who he is and I would assume the NIL stuff he will get will be targeted to people who follow recruiting

How do you just skip your senior year and walk right into college? It amazes me how quickly these guys can graduate or choose to stay another year in high school yet can’t read or write. How fors the student dictate the required classes to graduate and squeeze 2 years into 1. System is so fricked up.

If any of you wouldn’t have done the same (or at least considered it) at age 17, gtfo

Honestly,’I hope This kid is a bust, just to recalibrate all the NIL money.

Giving a kid equity in your company because he’s a 5* is a gamble

Apparently not in Texas. They just signed the law for NIL recently.

if the NCAA HAD to allow NIL, the Texas UIL has to allow it too

UIL would have looked the other way if he planned to stay in-state, especially for the Longhorns
(that’s a joke for the Literal Larrys on this board)

How many of those guys would have been millionaires instead of resigned to a life of car dealership work.

The only thing that would have changed is the amount of time it took before they were destined to a life of car dealership work.

It’s actually really easy to hit the number of required core courses if you’re halfway intelligent. I believe almost all of my high school class could have enrolled early with 1-2 summer classes.

Being a nationally recruited elite athlete is the hard part

Yep. The pros got burned enough they got a salary cap in.

Uhhh what? the salary cap was implemented whenever the NFL first created NFL free agency as a way to equalize the ability for all teams to compete in a free agent market blah blah blah

Obviously I was talking about the rookie cap.

because the NCAA didn't just wake up one day and decide the kids had to be paid. Court cases were going to break off in them if they didn't

I was gonna say take some night classes so that he might one day be able to leave his current job and move UP to cutting grass.

Yep. Tate Martell would have made millions, and still flopped.

Yeah. Companies are ridiculous and dealing with a slippery slope. Signing these kids sight unseen? I don’t think so. I think the panic among fans is way to much as well. Throughout the country, there’s going to be maybe 20-30 kids able to make 6-7 figures.

There’s no company going to be paying 6 figures for a 4* DL kid in HS. Or even when he’s playing at the college level.

Leroys brake pads can pay these kids all they want but they’ll all find that the investment won’t create a return. And if a business wants to spend their money on high school recruits and waste money, that’s their problem. I don’t see many people in Starkville, MS doing so.

This kind of thing will be common for a few years but after enough recruits don't pan out, these companies will stop throwing money at unproven players.

That’s what I’ve been saying. A lot will be left with eg on their faces are croots flame out, don’t get playing time, or transfer to another state for far away.

I'm sure it's somewhere in the proposed contract, but that would be hilarious if he got equity in this kombicha company and then ended up transferring to some G5 school 1000 miles away after not seeing the field and getting passed on the depth chart by someone younger.
