The Cincinnati Bengals have been parked at No. 32 for seven straight years in Sportico’s annual NFL team valuations. The small-market club plays in an older stadium, ranks near the bottom on local revenue and lacks a national brand from its Super Bowl trophy-less history.

Yet there are only six sports franchises on the planet outside the NFL that are worth more than the Bengals. The list includes three from the NBA, two in MLB and LaLiga’s Real Madrid. The NFL’s least valuable team is worth $7.4 billion, by Sportico’s count, and all 32 teams land among the world’s 40 most valuable sports franchises.

The NFL flexed its financial might over the past 12 months with a record-breaking control sale price in Seattle and sky-high valuations of limited partnership stakes in Cleveland, Las Vegas and Miami.

The average team value rose 31% to $9.34 billion, based on conversations with more than 40 people involved in the league, including team owners, executives, investors, consultants and bankers. It marks the biggest year-over-year value gain for the NFL since Sportico’s valuations launched in 2020. The average value has increased 141% over the past five years.

The Dallas Cowboys lead the way for the seventh straight year at $15.5 billion, up 21% from 2025. The Los Angeles Rams ($12.7 billion), New York Giants ($12 billion), New England Patriots ($10.4 billion) and New York Jets ($10.35 billion) round out the top five.

The 32 teams are collectively worth $299 billion, including real estate and related businesses, such as the Cowboys’ sports components of The Star mixed-use development in Frisco, Texas.

I know owners want to act like they need a new stadium every 10 years, but does the rest of the general public think a stadium built in 2000 is older? Maybe it is technically correct if 16 other franchises have newer stadiums.

ETA: I just looked it up. Only 12 other stadiums are older. So, I guess this statement is technically correct.

They might rather have Trump as the owner than Jerry now though

Skins used to be at the top of this list for a while and Snyder ran them into the ground. Pretty impressive.

Valuations look to be heavily influenced by stadium ownership and surrounding real estate. Reason why the Bears are willing to move to Arlington or Indiana. They want that sweet stadium with surrounding real estate they can turn into a money pot. They get it and they shoot up the list into the top 3.

This was before all these insane stadiums being built though.

Quick throw back. I forget when Dallas took over as number 1. Might’ve been officially with Jerry World to your point though.

On the open market, The Cowboys would probably sell for $20B+.

They probably net $500M/yr at least. And it's a private company, with very little actual oversight, no public shareholders to answer to, and basically only 1 real principle owner.

It's genuinly one of the best business situations n the world.

Does it matter when you’re making money hand over fist. I think you’re missing the point.

ETA - in theory, winning only matters to the fans, and maybe the players/coaches whose job depends on it. Owners are making bank win or lose, and this data supports that fact.

When they lose they should give some money back to the fans somehow

The valuations are super influenced by owning the stadium. It’s why the packers are never high and the bears so desperately want to own their stadium (which is why Soldier Field isn’t an option).

LOL
LOL@the Saints
Pretty sure the rankings took into effect of who owns the team. GB is publicly owned, and they are more valuable. Allegedly

Fans need to stop obsessing over the stadiums. It doesn’t really make the game better and experience better if you are focused on the actual sport. All it does is drive up the price of the game.
