I like it. Teams can still try onside kicks for the surprise element of if they feel that their QB and receiver are in the zone they can just play it straight up.

Brings more excitement to the game which I am all for.

Yeah I’d like to see a breakdown of 4th and 15 that result in a first either by penalty or conversion and then a comparison against the rate of successful onside kicks before and after the rule change.

This would be a disaster with the way refs throw flags on PIs and holdings now.

This is so silly to me.

I wish they would leave the game alone.

I would prefer they go back to the old kickoff rules of letting the players get a running start, but that isn't happening so I'd be fine with this.

My only issue is terrible refs calling a BS penalty that would gift the offense a 1st down.

It would be horrible.

Why are we rewarding the trailing team with a better opportunity to win?

15 yards? I don't know. Feels like dynamic offenses could get that easily. Prime Saints offense could have gotten that at 40-50%.

Horrible idea

Sounds like bs that MLB would come up with these days

According to this, the success rate is slightly higher on 4th and 15 than the old onside kick rules.

Still, it would be infuriating to lose a game because the "kicking" team was awarded an automatic first down on a borderline defensive holding penalty.

4th and 15 feels too easy and punishes the team with the lead. 4th and 25? Sure

I agree with this.

Exactly. Opponent recovering onside and then drives down again at least you feel like it was kinda lost on the field. I hate giving the refs more opportunities to heavily influence big situations.

if you want more exciting finishes I may be for adopting college football clock rules inside 2 minutes

Like Verne or Gary? I don't watch NFL but you get my point. Their equivalent has to be in the NFL booth, too.

Worst rule proposal ever. PI calls are too fricking shitty for this rule to even be considered.

In 2019, the onside rate went up to 12.5 percent (7 out of 56), but that was largely thanks to Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo, who converted two in one game.

Its always the Asian fricking up the curve.

Yeah I would need them to make it where a PI or hold call would need to be past the 1st down marker in order for it to be a successful attempt. If the foul comes before the first down marker than just mark the spot of the foul and let them try again with the new distance to gain. And even then I’m iffy on it.

Pat Mahomes posted on twitter "4th and 15" and two crying laughing emojis.

I think he would be confident about it

Not sure why people are so butthurt about this. If you are worried about PIs then tell your secondary to get good.
