Washington, Minnesota and Detroit being so good with so much cap space for next year is a good look for them.

I'm very surprised that the Broncos have so much salary cap space after cutting Wilson.

They’ve been pushing aging players salaries to signing bonuses, pushing the cap hit to later years for like 6 years now.

Because Mickey kicked the can so far down the road trying to win with an aging roster and used "voided years" on contracts.

Saints fans claimed he was a cap genius for that though.

Jayden is gonna be a guy players gravitate to and want to play with. Dan Quinn is also a great coach to play for. Same with Dan Campbell. I’m sure both teams will have to extend some of their own guys, but they should be huge players in free agency. If the Redskins front office knows what they’re doing, that turnaround could be super quick. Already appear way ahead of schedule anyway.

Detroit is in an especially great place since they've already signed their QB and have that contract worked into their cap.

Cleveland is going to be a mess since Watson is going to cost them $75 million each year for the next 2 or 3 years and there's nothing they can do to get that off their books.

Detroit also has a star WR in Amon Ra locked into a contract already as well. They'll need to resign Hutchinson in the next couple years though.

Cowboys +29.0M

But we couldn't afford Derek Henry who lives in DFW and wanted to play for them.

One of Jerry's biggest blunders ever. Henry has more yards in two runs this year, than Zeke has on the entire year.

But Jurreh says he's ALL IN.

It’s hard to imagine the Saints being anything besides an absolutely brutal football team in 25 and 26. They would have to absolutely crush a couple drafts
which their current front office hasn’t done in like 7 years

Damn, the Commanders will be in good shape. Stud rookie contract QBs are the ticket if you are lucky enough.

At this point, just sell everything for pieces and go all-in on a full rebuild. Maybe we can be great again in 5 years.

Dumb ones. Plenty of us have been wanting that fricker to bite the bullet for years. The Carr signing and subsequent pushing of money was the back breaker.

Because Mickey Loomis loves using salary cap voodoo to create cap space now at the expense of kicking the can down the road to where a significant chunk of the cap in future years is dead money to players that left or retired.

Restructuring contracts to convert salary into signing bonus. Then adding extra years to the backend of the contract that are "voided" so they can spread the cap hit for the signing bonus over an extra 2 years. So you'll have players finish out their contract and the Saints will still have a cap hit on them for an extra year or 2 from that.

It would be great if you had a team that was a Super Bowl contender now and you needed the cap space now to fill in 1 or 2 missing pieces. But mortgaging the future to sign aging veterans while you have a below average team, without a franchise QB, and led by a guy that's had zero success as head coach is beyond stupid. The Saints will be in a salary cap hell hole for the next few years....assuming Loomis doesn't dig the hole deeper.
