When Seattle gets a team put them and OKC in same division for instant rivalry. Div plays 4 games per year vice 3 in conf and 2 vs other conf. Wonder how adding 2 teams changes those 4/3/2 schedules?

How is Louisville better odds than Nashville or Tampa?

Tampa- Orlando Magic less than an hour away up I-4: Tampa Bay already has baseball, football and hockey (which is basically same season as basketball).

Nashville-- Memphis Grizzlies already an NBA team in Tennessee; Nashville already has football, MLS soccer and hockey (which is basically same season as basketball).

Louisville is a new market; supported the Kentucky Colonels for the entire history of the ABA, larger TV market than New Orleans or Memphis, 43rd biggest metro area in the US, huge basketball fans in the area, and the NBA has a history of being the first big league team in a LOT of cities:

--Phoenix
--Seattle
--Portland
--Indianapolis
--San Antonio
--Salt Lake City
--Sacramento
--Charlotte
--Orlando
--Memphis
--Oklahoma City

Still "the only game in town" in several of them.

I read an article on Mexico City and the NBA. It's just not a good fit. I didn't realize how high the city is (higher than Denver). So players struggle with the altitude. Also the logistics for the stadium is not good and not in the best area. They would need a new stadium in a better part of town, plus a secure location for players and family.

It would be smart of a team to make a partnership with the city though and build a fanbase in the area. Play 3-4 games there and get TV rights. Do some additional outreach.

Honestly the best location for a new team is Vancouver. Huge population, wealthy city, beautiful location. The league needs a 2nd city in Canada, just for the rivaly. Vegas is a gem and existing teams should be fighting to move there. An expansion team would be a waste..

Well, Atlanta received two NHL franchises and could possibly be getting another should the NHL expand in the coming years.

frick that. Seattle is significantly larger, wealthier, and an actual American city that had an NBA team for 41 seasons.

A bit of trivia on some of the cities in the list:

Pittsburgh once had a team in 1947-48

St. Louis Hawks 1955 - 1968 are now the Atlanta Hawks

Kansas City-Omaha Kings 1972-1975 became Kansas City Kings 1975-1985 then Sacramento Kings

San Diego Rockets 1967-1971 became the Houston Rockets

San Diego Clippers 1978-1984 became the Los Angeles Clippers

Seattle Supersonics 1967-2008 became the Oklahoma City Thunder

Vancouver Grizzlies 1995-2001 became the Memphis Grizzlies

It’s been a while but why did the Sonics leave Seattle? Was it arena issues? Certainly can’t be fans support as I recall the fan base was solid.

Why do you want a fanbase to lose their team?

Team was sold to a guy from Oklahoma. Lied about his intentions. Moved once he had control. The plan was in place before ownership was transferred.

Seattle still hasn't built a new arena OKC just started it's second since the sonics moved.

The West coast has been lousing population and fans for years Seattle and Portland are shite holes full of retarded drug addicts that would rather go to a protest over any game.
