Okay, forget it. You’re either stupid or trying to do a bit. I can’t tell.

So what if he did. Get over it

What N word is she talking about? Nitrogen? Nasty? Natural? Non attention seeking?

I’m just trying to find out where we draw the line and when derogatory terms turn into terms of endearment.
You’ve clearly stated that the n word can be used between buddies.

She left Duke in 2005 (masters in divinity?). She never worked with the basketball team directly. She was doing some kind of program that matches players/students with community service organizations. So this would have happened 19-21 years ago (they attended for 3 years at the same time).
I would really need to hear context and time/place to remotely believe this. If it had that big of an impact she'd remember. Otherwise we are supposed to believe he spouted off, out of nowhere, a slur against a religious studies student organizing public service. I mean, that just doesn't sound realistic or he would have done it many other similar instances. So I call BS, until she can convince me or there is a huge group of other minority women sharing similar tales.
Even then, I don't care if he did it. I would be disappointed. I just thought he's smarter than that, to leave himself vulnerable..

“What a world” she says, and I agree. Teaching people to be proud of being a victim has made this a very stupid time in the world.

Because of this type of planned nonsense, is this the real reason Dan Hurley turned down the same job.

You think this is a big planned scheme?

Are you saying when a friend calls a friend the n word, it’s meant in a good way?
Only if you are 2 black friends, so apparently a white dude and a black dude can never be real friends according to that guy.

I was called it many times by black dudes I worked with as a teenager in the 90s in westwego. It definitely seemed like a term of endearment in how it was used. I’m white AF by the way but we would all hang out after work and were pretty good friends by the end of the summer. Some other white dudes that went to school with them would say it back and nobody gave a shite. I never said it back because it had always been portrayed as being a terrible thing and didn’t want to get my arse kicked if someone was in a bad mood.
Seemed more like a class/cultural thing than a strictly white/black thing but this was 25 years ago.

I’m sure black men have called her that in her life. So is she or isn’t she?

That’s totally fine. Just friends being friends.

Yep, a white person using a term that has always been a derogatory term for black people is the same as a black person using it with a different pronunciation and directed at a friend. Exactly the same. There is zero difference.
