That’s insane. Imagine if 10% of the US was positive at any given time. Wouldn’t be surprised if almost half the league has already had it by now.
I imagine we probably have been around that number in the U.S. already. The average Joe just doesn't get tested nearly as much as these athletes and as we've seen many of these athletes that test positive are asymptomatic. The general public typically ain't getting tested unless they have symptoms. No telling how many of us have had it or are walking around with it with no symptoms and never even knew.

I'm thinking the league heard that interview with the chick that gave the Suns team mouth hugs. They need to let that poor girl rest.

Herd immunity for the season opener.

I had a theory a while back that we should purposely infect people who will have a 100% survival rate from this thing.
That way those people can go ahead and quarantine for a week, and live their lives as normal after that. Thus limiting the number of people who could unknowingly infect someone else who would have a tougher time dealing with the virus.

I hope the NBA is forced to cancel their entire season.

They built basically quarantine barracks, but we could have done something a bit more luxurious, since there were empty hotels that they could have been them up in.

I don't think this would work if we had people quarantine at home, especially because that would be difficult unless they lived alone or everybody was doing the COVID party. On top of that, monitoring them since some will get invariably under up needing more medical attention, discharging them after no longer being contagious, and ensuring compliance would not be feasible unless done in a centralized location.

They’ve been hidden away from society in a bubble. This isn’t surprising at all.

I’m not sure what the bubble has to do with it. 10% being positive at once is a very high background rate of infection, especially considering more than 15% ultimately tested positive before the bubble.

Most models have a range of 50 million to 100 million Americans that have already been infected. This is believable if you have any sort of critical thinking skills. Covid-19 is a highly infectious virus that is also extremely mild to the vast majority of people it infects.
