This is the same committee chair that said they dropped Alabama to 10 in part because they needed a second half comeback on the road at South Carolina to win and the same interview said "We think it was impressive A&M came back in the second half against South Carolina (at home)." If anything this is them correct their mistake of dropping Alabama as far as they did after the OU loss.

Either way keep crying LSU fans while Alabama plays in their 9th College Football Playoff in a few weeks while your team sits at home for the 11th time in the CFP's 12 seasons.

Nobody cares about Alabama anymore man. You are a team getting talked about like every other team in the rankings

This thread is literally about Alabama. I know education isn't strong in Louisiana but try and keep up. I think they still make Hooked on Phonics if you need help reading.

Bamas bad rival is worlds better than ND’s bad rival

The committee killed two birds with one stone.

They can avoid much controversy when they keep Bama in after they lose to Georgia. And they gave themselves an out to move Miami over Notre Dame in next week's rankings.

In no world can you legitimately say last weeks results only warrant Bama moving up

They got outgained 410 yards to 288 and needed a score in the last few minutes to win over a 5-7 team

Nd crushed Stanford

Alabama loss means they are out. In that case, Miami and ND both make it.

I don’t think they punish Alabama for losing in a conference championship game, especially vs a team they’ve already beaten this season.

They have done far worse

In 2017 Auburn was ranked 2 in the rankings heading into the conf champ game. They lost to UGA, a team they had beaten only a few weeks before

The committee then dropped them below bama, a team sitting at home, who Auburn beat 8 days prior

The committee has done just about everything already. They have no consistency and will do as they please

SMU dropped two spots last year for a last second loss on a FG. Who knows what they will do because there is zero consistency. I think Bama is in unless they get beat badly.

At that time, no one was suggesting eliminating the SEC championship game.

The playoff is a TV product run by a network that broadcasts the SEC championship which was higher rated than all of the first round playoff games last year.

I believed going into tonight Bama would jump ND to avoid the threat of a BYU win eliminating an SEC Championship participant.

Maybe if Alabama gets run out of the building, the committee will be forced to drop them, but otherwise, ESPN is not going to risk the SEC Championship going away.

So a 3rd loss in the seccg shouldn't push you out of a 4 team playoff, but it should a 12 team field?

It’s more likely they did it so they can flip ND and Bama at 9/10 if Bama were to lose. That way, they can say Bama “dropped” for the loss… but not materially punish them. If they kept Bama at 10 this week, you couldn’t drop them for losing next week while simultaneously keeping them in the field.

Also, it would’ve made way more sense for the ND-Miami flip to have happened this week if it was going to happen rather than next week when neither is playing and only one opponent of either (Boise State, who played ND) is playing.

What? You slow

The committee dropped a team 3 spots , those 3 spots costing them the playoffs. The team that leaped in actually lost to Auburn

Why does 4 team or 12 team make a single difference? It’s all relative to the amount of spots being dropped and who leap frogs in

What would dropping bama 3 spots do this year?

I argued on 2017 a team should never be penalized for a conference champ game relative to a team that sat home. Bama fans and the committee disagreed with me then

It is embarrassing for Notre Dame that they keep annual games with turds like Stanford to avoid playing in a real conference.

It’s a joke. They had a 3 game season and only won 1 of them. They would lose way more with an SEC schedule.

Yep, that's what I meant. I believe this committee does not want to keep Bama out if they lose, so they moved them up this week to create somewhat of a "buffer" between them and the cut line.

It should have happened this week if that's their plan. My guess is that it does happen next week if BYU loses. But like you said, that wouldn't make much sense to flip-flop two idle teams.

Alabama has stunk late in the season.

Won by 7 vs South Carolina (8 losses)
Won by 11 vs LSU with no HC
Lost to OU (at home)
Won by 7 vs Auburn (1-7 SEC)

If they lose to Georgia, woof. Not deserving at all with 3 losses.
