It was by the same academic advisors who messed up certifying athletes.

NCAA penalizes a teams APR score when someone transfers out, yet they have created and support a transfer heavy environment in college basketball.

I'm not saying that is the reason for any of these, but that is going to bite someone one day.

I think it’s only an APR hit if the SA isn’t academically eligible when they transfer.

Use this as an excuse to shutter some of these universities in Louisiana. There’s way too many for such a small state. And I’m not just talking about HBCUs

I would think most of the schools on this list have more transfers IN than transfers OUT

Now they pay the piper: 3 years probation, forfeits almost 300 games, and lots of money,
quote:

The school agreed with the NCAA to several sanctions, the most severe of which includes three years of probation, a public reprimand and censure and a fine of $5,000 plus half of 1% of the total budget for men’s basketball and football.

Stephen F. Austin also agreed to return 50 percent of its financial share earned from participating in the 2016 NCAA tournament and forfeited 289 victories in four sports where an ineligible student-athletes participated. That includes 117 victories by the men’s basketball team from 2014-2019, 112 wins in baseball from 2015-2019, 29 wins in football from 2013-19 and 31 softball victories in 2018.
By vacating those wins the men’s basketball team forfeits three conference championships and its win in the first round of the 2016 NCAA tournament. The school will remove banners recognizing those accomplishments from its coliseum.

Stephen F. Austin must reduce its scholarships for football in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons by 2.5% and cut its baseball scholarships by 5% in either the 2020-21 or 2021-22 season. The men’s basketball team will lose one scholarship in either the 2020-21 or 2021-22 season.

Because some dumb kids--a small fraction of the student body--didn't think going to class was important?

Gtfo with this bullshite. That has to be the dumbest reason yet for wanting to close schools.

ETA: FWIW, I'm not opposed to the idea either. There are far too many universities in CENLA and North Louisiana, as well as the NOLA/Northshore/BR area.

CENLA/North: LA College, Northwestern St, ULM, Grambling, LA Tech, SU-Shreveport, LSU-A, LSU-S

NOLA/BR/Northshore: LSU, Tulane, Southeastern, Nicholls, Loyola, UNO, Xavier, Southern, Southern-NO, Dillard, Herring (never even heard of the last 2 before)

And that's not even counting all of the 2 year schools.

But yet the whole McNeese/ULL being an hour apart always gets thrown around for a reason to close McNeese.

This past season was not part of the vacated wins so they keep the Duke W.
