Of course not. It's silly.

Any real evidence other than pure speculation?

Sounds like Stern orchestrated the whole thing.

Better question would the NBA do it again to a player?

I've always believed it. Jordan was too much of a competitor to get bored by, or tired of, winning and being the greatest.

is this the first you're hearing of this whole "mj was a gambler, got his pops killed, then got a year off for his trouble" thing?

No, and its pretty retarded to believe that Stern would secretly suspend him. What were the terms? Sit out a year and a half and come back before the playoffs in the second year? Makes perfect sense!!

Yes, a year after coming back. Great logic.

I've always found this topic interesting, but have a hard time believing Stern suspended Jordan.

Seems like something would've leaked out by now.

I think he did gamble.

Retire to play baseball? Yeah rite. Dude loved being callrd the best. Bitched and bitched when Malone got the mvp that one year. Played way past his prime too.

it's no secret that he gambled. He did after he came back and still does to this day.

All the other stuff is BS speculation and would have leaked out long ago if there was a shred of truth to it.

I don't know if he did or didn't, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit. Remember that before the whole affair thing that Jordan was a 'good guy' and THE FACE and savior of the NBA. He was to big to fail at the time.

No

But the next time I see a single shred of evidence supporting this theory will be the first time I see evidence of any kind.

well prior to donaghy was there evidence of NBA refs fixing aspect of games? and that whole thing involved (involves?) a lot more people than the hypothetical/conspiracy theory "jordan suspension"

i mean shite POST-donaghy, how much else has come out about NBA refs affecting games?

it was possible to hide illegal shite with 30-40 participants for a long time

He was fined for wearing #23, not 45. 23 had been retired and hence why he had to wear 45. He then decided to force the issue with #23 and started wearing it and got fined

My theory is jordan paid his debts
Jordan got called out by stern
Jordan told stern frick you and your league and gave stern an ultimatum. Back off of my personal life or I will quit.
Stern called his bluff so Jordan quit to play baseball and give a big frick you to stern and jerry Krause

Jordan struggled in baseball knew he was too old to ever get to the show so he went back to basketball a little more humbled.

Stern helped him buy the bobcats to make peace with Jordan

There never was a suspension
