if the Spurs can repair their relationship and people think there's a legit chance he stays in SA. There is little evidence to support this happening.
Yeah I don't see that happening at this point.
But what the hell do I know. We Spurs fans know frick all about drama

I'm torn between (a) taking pleasure in watching Pop, who thinks he is the coolest guy ever, fail in smoothing over things with a guy he coached for several years and (b) wanting him to succeed in order to break the backs of annoying Lakers fans and LBJ.

Or if Kawhi opens up his list to other teams.
Even then, he's still on a one year track to FA. If he shows interest in other teams, pulling the trade trigger only gets you recruiting time in the Laker organization.
Remember the year the Lakers had with Dwight?

Again, this discussion seems wayyyyyyyyyy too Lakers centric. There are definitely reports that contradict the idea that he's all-in on the Lakers. Even just today there was a report that he'd prefer the Clippers over the Lakers because of LeBron.

Yeah, Dwight fought like hell to get to LA then he realized he hated it and left. I remember.

Clearly you don’t because Dwight was fighting like hell to go to Brooklyn not Los Angeles. The Lakers rolled the dice thinking they would convince him to stay and got burned.

What are you talking about? What about that isnt true? I don't care if you take me seriously or not.
What I said was a fact.

Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) on The Herd: “I don't think Kawhi Leonard is jumping for joy now that LeBron is a Laker. If anything, he’ll be more open to joining the #Clippers.”
quote:
"One thing that's been made abundantly clear. I'm going to stress this: There's no guarantee if Kawhi Leonard hits the market next summer he's going to sign with the Lakers, period," said Shams Charania on The Herd.
"I think his options have broadened a little bit. There's another team obviously in L.A. I think he'd be very much open to the Clippers. "There's a belief around the league that if the Sixers came hard, there could be potential there for him to potentially be there in the long-term."
Talks haven't advanced with any teams to the point where his camp has been approached about Leonard's potential interest with a specific team. "There's not much interest in the Boston Celtics scenario for him," added Charania.
"Around Kawhi, it's been made abundantly clear there's not an interest to go join a superteam. I don't think he's jumping for joy that LeBron James is in L.A. with the Lakers.
If anything, that's going to make him look, maybe more, toward the Clippers because this is a guy that won Finals MVP against LeBron James. You think he's amped up and wants to join LeBron now? I think that's been overstated."
Whew. Guess Kawhi to the Lakers ain't so guaranteed as you seem, so strongly, to believe.
Also some more low key reports that its still possible the relationship between Kawhi and the Spurs can be mended if several key things are addressed. I guess there's still time for those things to be addressed before the season and I doubt the trade offers between now and then will change much anyhow.

Pretty much. You have to think Pop and RC have a good measure of it all though. I don't think they're as desperate as laker fans wish they'd be. I know they want to complete their super team, but fantasy doesn't always equate to reality.
Maybe Kawhi sees what they want in return and sees that as a sign of how much the Spurs value him as a player.

That’s so shortsighted of Paul George. Why would you want the Lakers to gut the team to get you? Like Melo and the Knicks.

Really dorsmt matter. Time to move on. Get lonzo healthy, make sure lebron is ready, and hope to god the spurs enter the season with Kawhi

I remember when people thought Paul George was on a one year track to LA
Posted on 7/3/18 at 8:52 pm to tiggerthetooth
Perhaps. Honestly it could go either way at this point and there'd be a somewhat plausible explanation.
I just selfishly want an end to the saga. Gone on far too long. Stay or leave. IDGAF.
Pop and RC are far more patient than I

Woj even said last year that George didn’t want them to use all their assets. This was from a Woj yahoo article around the end of May 2017
quote:
”For the Lakers, they are pretty confident and have a great deal of belief that they're in position to get Paul George in 2018 whether he stays in Indiana or he's traded elsewhere." "The Lakers don't have to give assets up to go and try to trade for him. In fact, I think they have been encouraged to do just the opposite. If Paul George goes there, he wants them to have assets, he wants them to be as good of a team as they can when he walks in."
So he lets them know the above I guess via his agent, tells the entire league he’s signing with the Lakers in 2018, then gets butthurt that a 26 win Lakers team didn’t dump the few good players they have for him.
Makes sense

It’s just revisionist history by PG. He changed his mind and decided to stay which is fine. I don’t know why he thinks he needs to come up with some excuse to justify it
