I assume it goes without saying, but maybe to you it doesn’t...
Different players have different values.
Some guys value money. Some guys value the relationships. Some guys just wanna win

Is Clark not capable of handling the ball for 10 minutes a game? I have a hard time believing Elfrid would be more effective than him at that.
No. Trust me, no.
I want him back as a bench guard..like 5-6th guard, but he is nowhere near the kind of facilitator you'd want or need. Him and Moore should not be the options to facilitate unless you absolutely have to. Even then, I think I'd bet my chances on AD iso-balling it up.

They are probably bringing back Rondo. I think they see Payton as a guy that can give them 10-15 minutes a game in the regular season as a very poor mans bench Rondo.
People have no idea the problems Pels had all year when Rondo and Jrue were on the bench. They had Ian Clark basically playing point and he could barely get the ball past midcourt if a team even pressed a little.
This, all of this.
The dropoff between decision making when Rondo on/off is drastic alone. When both Rondo and Jrue were off, it was absolutely horrendous
Watching dreadful lineups of Clark-Moore-Miller-Niko-Diallo try to buy our starters like 5 real life minutes of rest was absolutely head smashing.

Ian Clark is a terrible ball handler as a lead guard. He can get hot and score but he also had his fair share of terrible games.

quote:Dude do you watch him?
He's a great passer, a very good rebounder for a guard, and can be good defensively.
He's really good at getting the ball up court which is important today.
I don't know enough about how the game works to sound intelligent here..but he seems to be able to find guys moving to the basket near him. I'd say he's good in the pick and roll but I'm not too sure how often they run it.
But other than that he just looks lost and gives the ball up to someone who is looking to shoot right away because the team sucks arse and why not shoot when your team is arse?
You think this guy can run a damn competitive team?

quote:You're off your rocker if you don't think he's already above average in those 3 facets.
You can kiss my arse with both of these and probably the first one too.
I watched him play. Squeezing past a screen and dumping it off to someone who shouldn't shoot who takes and makes a shot isn't impressive.
You should know how much I watched this guy because of how hard I hated on him.
Rebounds?! Dude he's a tall PG who doesn't stay behind the line because he's the worst fricking shooter in the league and we have long rebounds now bc everyone shoots.
How the hell are you going to say he's a good rebounder like that's something that teams would value in him?
Off your rocker.

I love how the spurs are going to hold the lakers hostage if the want Kwahi
they don't have much leverage to hold them "hostage".... he will walk after the season, so they better at least do the smart thing and get SOMETHING for him, or they will really, REALLY look stupid...
and with Philly saying Fultz, Simmons, and Embiid are all off the table, and with Boston likely not trading any of their up and coming stars, that leaves LA as the only real viable team with young talent that are willing to deal... i'd ship Ball and his entourage and Ingram, and picks if need be...
with Randle likely gone, you need Kuzma to be your new starting PF and Lebron makes Ball expendable anyway...

He's an above average rebounder, passer, and defender?

play serviceable defense
Payton has pretty consistently been awful on D. I'm pretty sure in Orlando this year the team's worst defensive rating by far was with him on the floor. It was the same story in PHX. He can bring the ball past mid court, but I'm not sure he is who you want.

Lebron likes useless role players that don’t rebound and don’t defend to not get in his way.

Once again, bad teams and bad situations. He has all the tools to play decent defense, and Erman will be by the far the best defensive coach he's ever had.

Who did Elfrid sign with?
I think I saw the Pels?
They have to keep Rando then.
You don't have a chance to be good if Payton is your point guard.

Different players have different values.
I seem to know that better than you.
You think Hard2win cares about championships yet he's at the strip club hours after being humiliated by a Kawhi-less Spurs squad.

People inside the Pels organization believe Elfrid Payton could be one of the best backups in the league. He also gives them an option at starter if Rondo walks
Yeah i really hope this isn't true for Pels sake
I'm just surprised he went before Shabazz if we're talking backups. I'd have rather had Shabazz (not that he's great)
Posted on 7/1/18 at 10:48 pm to Goldrush25
And he stops his organization from signing the best player in the world and lets him go to a different team in the conference

Payton is gonna be the 3rd or 4th guard off the bench my dude.
He ain't playing more than 15 mins a night with us.

Expectations is that we can continue to play a fast pace with Payton when Rondo goes to the bench.
Biggest issue last year for pelicans:
no defensive wing
Second largest issue:
no legit ball handler when Rondo/Jrue were off the court. Hell I'd argue Jrue ain't THAT great either.
