Look I didn't want to do this but I have a cousin who is well connected in NBA circles. Went out for dinner earlier tonight. I had the scallops, he had shrimp. He told me that Kawhi and Drake shared an order of poutine earlier. Kawhi told Drake that he wants to stay in Toronto for a couple of more years but he's really just not into Tim Hortons and he's afraid that if that info comes out, he may be in danger. He enjoyed his visit with Magic but was very put off that Magic insisted on splitting a milkshake. The Clippers had a great pitch but Steve Balmer was sweating profusely and a drop of sweat landed on Kawhi. Clippers are out. Lakers and Raptors lead for his signature. Expect a decision within the next 16 days.

Sources tell me that Vlade Divac got thrown out of the pitch meeting for smoking indoors. They let the first 6 cigarettes go but as soon as he lit the 7th, it was over. Kawhi enjoyed Vlade's stories about his great uncle starting World War 1, but was put off by his insistence that Kawhi record an anti Bosnia propaganda film.

I mean didn't Pels fans think all of the Lakers players sucked? They only became good when they were traded.

We all think Tatum > any individual lakers piece. Yes.
But personally, I've been high on Ball since he's been in the league.
Once NYC dropped to 3rd in the lotto it was down to Lakers and Boston. Boston didn't want AD bad enough.
Regardless of all that, I doubt you'll find a single actual nba follower who rates Kuzma ahead of Ball or Ingram going forward. Of the top 4 pieces the Lakers had, Kuzma is easily the 4th best.

I was on record stating that I think Tatum was the best individual asset that could have possibly been had in the trade, but I thought Ingram was 2nd, and the 3rd pick was 3rd in terms of value. IMO, Ball was on the same level as Brown/SGA, which was basically tied for 4th, IMO.
ETA: and yes, Kuz was easily the least likely Lakers asset to fit into the Pels plans.
