If they get Kawhi they won't even be able to field a starting 5, let alone any depth. The Lakers to ship foregone conclusion even if they get Kawhi is reaching.

Lebron can still play elite defense when he wants. Which would be the playoffs
Lebron hasn't played any defense in the playoffs for probably at least 3 years now.

This officially puts them out of the running for Cousins right?

Wonder where he’s thinking about going

Don’t think it’s reaching at all. If they really get Kawhi a bench, or any depth won’t matter at all. They will have 3 of the top 6 players in the NBA next season. Possibly the best 2, Giannas being 3rd.

Knicks just gave 8/year to a guy on a near minimum contract last year and was hurt for like 75% of the season lol.

Happy for elf though

Bexause he had to be too much of offense

Assuming they have Kawhi and AD, I don’t see that trend continuing

You do?

I mean, they'd only need 1 more, and have the exceptions to work with.

But yes, they'd be very thin, especially in year 1.

These Knicks signings are the NBA FA equivalent of a drowning man thrashing his arms about

in what world is a player who has to sit out 1/3 of the season the best player. This has literally never been the case ever for a “best player”.. The best ability is a availability.

Elfrid > Kyrie

RJ > KD

Bobby Portis > Zion

Julius Randle > AD

You do?
No, but I still don't see him going all out on defense any more? I just think those days are past him, I don't see him ever trying to be that lockdown dude he used to be.

Bobby Marks on the Lakers signing Daniels

Will not impact cap space in LAL. You can exceed the cap (once room is used) to sign a player to the minimum exception.

Nothing matters in the regular season, and they haven’t even played 2019-2020 season yet to tell how much each guy would play. Aren’t you a rockets fan? Chris Paul is out half the season on a yearly basis now. First time Lebron has ever missed a large chunk of time in his career, besides a 20 game injury back in Cleveland. You probably think Harden is the best player don’t you? Dude could never lead a team to a title.

I don’t either for any extended period

But I absolutely think he can and would during times for this potential lakers team

Regardless, if they get Kawhi I don’t see defense being their issue like the poster was alluding to

It’s the gift that keeps on giving. I haven’t tracked their cap space at all, so just when I think they have to be done something like Elf Payton for 2/16 comes across.

It’s going to be mid August and I’m gonna get an alert they signed Wes Johnson to a 2/15 deal and not be surprised at this point

More like Austin Rivers is stealing the vet minimum. 40% FG percentage, 31% from 3. PER of 7.7 this season. Woof.
Uhh, what? You know how I know you didn’t watch the Rockets this past season?

Austin Rivers was great off the bench. He was great on defense and could keep the ball moving on offense whether it was with his passing or penetration.

His numbers won’t blow you away, but he was very effective for them last season.

Yea, probably that world.

In the postseason, where it's a completely different game more than ever than the regular season. Where some other players are unable to rise to the occasion and play as good or even better than they do in the regular season, but a guy like Kawhi can and does up his game when it matters.

His play earned him a vet minimum. That's about how good he played, vet minimum level good.
