Knicks will stink next year. They need to acquire as many assets as possible. Take a chance on a talented player and hope he shows something. If he shows something, trade him before the deadline. If he doesnt release him, its only a 1 year contract.

The NBA's popularity rises with super teams, it doesn't decrease.
ETA: the upswing in social media usage could be more responsible for the increase in NBA popularity over the past few years, rather than the rise of the "super teams". Who knows? You can't automatically assume there is a causation there.

D'Lo with GS is just weird, and he's horribly overrated too.
Would be a smart move by GS to get the trade value with him instead of nothing for KD, then move him as soon as they can.

Yup, eight different teams made the NBA Finals from 2005-2009 and nobody gave a frick. LeBron leaves the Cavs and teams up with Wade and Bosh on the Heat and NBA ratings and interest increased exponentially. Super teams have always driven ratings in the NBA.

In terms of viewers, more interesting. If the cornerstones of the NBA like LA, NYC, Boston, etc. are at the top, that's always good for business

Right, but the Lakers are still going to be up there if they miss on Kawhi (barring injuries). It's not like the options are: Lakers land Kawhi and form a superteam, or the Lakers miss on Kawhi and suck. They'll still be a team competing, with a shot at a title.
