What Vince Young did in that title game against USC is the best single game in college football history considering what was on the line.

Reggie Bush, that guy was a monster. Had a 500 yard game!

A defensive Heisman may be the ultimate unicorn but Tyrann Mathieu cost Tyrann Mathieu a Heisman. ESPN loved Mathieu as much as they've ever loved a player in my lifetime. And poof. Up in smoke.

For me it will always be Troy Davis of Iowa State. Kid was snubbed in 1995 after rushing over 2000 yards to Eddie George, then, again in 96 after rushing for 2000 that year as well. Snubbed over hype, team record and BS. At the time he went back to back 2000 yards, he was among maybe 5 RBs ever to hit that mark. Davis played on a fair to spare team and still ran all over opponents. Robbed. I'm salty 30 years later, yes lol

There’s a ton of defensive players and non-QBs who should’ve won.
I'll add Ndamukong Suh for defensive players

The very next year, as a junior, he lost to fricking media hype machine Tim Tebow... Who was a Sophomore.
Tebow was doing things no one had ever done in CFB. He deserved it. And I have nothing bust respect for DMac. We know how good he was.

Ron Powlus should’ve won 2

You would think Denard Robinson won one considering he was on the cover of the video game the last 10 years.

Nice shout. Not enough people realize how great that dude was.
If he played in today's media age, he'd be a superstar.

Marshall Faulk
Saw him live run all over heavily favored USC in San Diego. Game ended in a tie. Faulk carried 27 times for 220 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Everyone was like, "who the frick is this guy?"
But you don't win Heismans at San Diego State, especially not back then.

But it just seems wrong that they don’t.
Okay down vote more...but are you saying Bush shouldn't have a Heisman? Because, they don't give out TWO.
When he won in a landslide and was phenomenal that year.
Oh, but Rose Bowl (knee down btw) well the award isn't after bowls and his defense won the game on 4th and 2 too.
This revisionist history that Bush didn't deserve the award in which he won in a LANDSLIDE! (So people in the country thought he was pretty good, would you say???) But because of 1 game, suddenly Bush sucked that year...and VY was WAY better!
Okay..got the myopic narrative.
