Marshall Faulk. Ceno Torretta got an award for being on a stacked Miami squad. Faulk was robbed. Someone should be doing jail time for that.

As for your question, easily McCaffrey...most all-purpose , versatile, dynamic player in CFB that year. Heisman is "best all-around player."

McFadden lost to Troy fricking Smith because Smith was an upper classman and Dmac was a Sophomore.
The very next year, as a junior, he lost to fricking media hype machine Tim Tebow... Who was a Sophomore.
Ask almost any SEC fan who played against him and he is almost unanimously the scariest dude they ever faced.
Basically, McFadden could have and probably should have won 2 Heismans, but lost both because he played at Arkansas and not a media darling brand.
What an absolute crick of shite.

Jacob Hester should have been in New York and beaten Tebow. (Tebow should’ve won the following year.) The ‘07 Gators had 4 losses. The LSU loss was completely on Tebow who threw an errant pass that glanced off a helmet that LSU intercepted which led to a 4th quarter TD. Hester took that game over scoring the winning TD on a drive for the ages.
Aidan Hutchinson should have beaten Bryce Young. I’ve never seen a QB get more help from refs not calling intentional grounding.
There’s a ton of defensive players and non-QBs who should’ve won. The award has become a “best QB” award.
