Most popular NFL or College Football

With all the knocking of the current BCS formula you would think that college football was a dying sport. However IMO college football blows the NFL out of the water when it comes to my football interest. Is it just me? Is the NFL considered more popular these days?

People who live in the South get a distorted picture of CFB's popularity in the rest of the country. CFB is an afterthought in the Northeast.

I would guess it depends on where you live.

Not that the NFL needed it, but I think that fantasy football has given the NFL a huge boost. You're generally gonna find that in the southeast college football will always rule, but the NFL will always have bigger ratings on a national scale.

NFL is more popular nationwide, college football is more popular in certain regions.

NFL more popular by far, if you look at ratings, even the bowl games and playoffs. Some college fans may be more passionate than some NFL teams. But even the most passionate college fan bases do not compare to the most passionate NFL fan bases.

I think most areas with an NFL franchise are overwhelmingly NFL > CFB

Really depends where you are. If you're in Columbus OH, it is college football. If you're in Cleveland, OH, its NFL football.
Depends if the city has a team in one or the other pretty much. Its seems pretty rare to have both an elite NFL and college team in the same town.

Much more fun than the No Fun League, for sure.

Think part of my problem with the NFL has actually been the New Orleans Saints long standing struggles. Got a taste of what it is like to root for a winning NFL team years ago with Mora and Bobby Hebert then again after Katrina.
Would be interesting to see how my feelings toward the NFL might change if the New Orleans had the same success as say the Patriots have had.

None in college compare with the base of the Packers, Redskins, Giants, just to name three. can easily throw the Steelers, Browns in the there, as well as The Bears.

Where the NFL and College exist in the same city the NFL greatly trumps college. Sharing a city tends to hurt a college.
Who is more popular in New Jersey Jets/Giants or Rutgers?
More popular in Atlanta Falcons or Georgia Tech?

You must be from the South if you think college football is more popular the NFL. NFL is more popular across the nation and it ain't even close.

I think the NFL is more visible and more widespread than college FB. Due to not having many big cities in the South/Mid-West I believe college ball is more popular. There's only 32 NFL teams and 119 D-I FB schools. Fan bases in college tend to get divided more but there are fan bases of both college and the NFL that are very strong and passionate.
I really liked FB of any sorts growing up, but due to LSU being in my backyard I grew up liking college FB more than the NFL. In the last several years my interest is leaning more and more to the NFL (as well as the NBA). MLB has always been passionate to me. I really believe that Katrina somehow changed my focus back on this state and its sports teams. Maybe because I have spent countless hours over the decades to college sports maybe I'm burned out somewhat and the professional sports cycle is kicking in.

Yeah, I heard the Steelers have seasons tickets sold out through something like 2026.
