That’s not what flash in the pan means

Flash in the pan is Steve Slaton. Ran for 1282 as a rookie, then 437, the never cracked a 100 yards in a season again.

Josh Hamilton.

Top prospect... looked like he would succumb to drugs without ever making it to the majors... finally broke in with the Reds years later, moved to the Rangers and was on the cusp of becoming the face of MLB for a couple years... then drugs again...

I really think he got off the wagon again after that fan died from falling over the fence trying to catch a ball that Hamilton.

Really ? Dude went from CFB all-American as a FR to leaving USC 3 games into his sophomore campaign.

As a Freshman, Marinovich led the Trojans to a 9–2–1 record, won the Pac-10 Conference, and defeated Michigan in the 1990 Rose Bowl. UPI and Sporting News named Marinovich the College Freshman of the Year for 1989; he was the only freshman on the All-Pac-10 team and the first freshman QB named.
Marinovich entered the 1990 season as a Heisman Trophy candidate, with speculation on his leaving school early for the NFL. Marinovich admitted to doing Cocaine, LSD, and amphetamines days and nights before games.

Due to his abysmal performance, after 2 games he was benched. A week later he left USC and quit college. Still managed to be drafted in the 1st rd by the Raiders.

Came to post this. Injuries set him back but he could spin it and has elite athleticism. Would have been fun in today’s game

Not really a true flash in the pan but Chris Johnson had one 2000 yard season and never remotely looked elite again even though he had a few more solid years.

That Posey guy, who came off the bench for Boston and balled out and then the Hornets way overpaid for and he became terrible

The young'uns in this thread may not know who these guys are, but they are both outstanding examples of flash in the pan

Christian Okoye

His 1989 season he looked like he was about to dominate the NFL for a decade.

Never really did anything of note ever again and was out of the league within 3 years.
