Wish this wasn’t limited to NFL.

Because De’Anthony Thomas at Oregon was a fricking beast with the ball in his hands. Kid was a homerun threat every time he touched the call. I used to watch Oregon just to see him.

I've seen the greats of yesteryear through youtube footage and NFL Network, as far as real time, Reggie Bush and Adrian Peterson epitomes of a constant threat

When you watch Earl drive his helmet through Isaiah Robertson's chest you don't sit up and go "Oooooooooooh!" Electrifying doesn't have to be quick and elusive.

Barry.

When the Lions lined up with him in the backfield, you knew it was going to be a handoff to Barry.

I knew it.
You knew it.
The defense knew it.
Your 8 year old female cousin who didn’t like or understand football and was dragged along knew it.

They still couldn’t stop him.

Barry Sanders, and it’s not close!

He was great. But I think most on here are too young and don't realize how dominant Jim Brown was. He was the Bo Jackson of his time and it wasn't even close. As far as "electrifying", it has to be Gale Sayers, the Kansas Comet was in a league of his own. Barry Sanders was great, but he didn't have the speed Sayers had. Sayers had Sanders' moves but with flat out sprinters speed. Bo Jackson was the next Jim Brown if not injured, and may have been the best of all time had he played a few more years.

Chris Johnson during his 2K season was incredible. Made 2 men miss in the backfield and then 60 yards for a TD every time. Lightning speed. Home run threat every time he touched the ball, doesn’t matter if he had good blocking

That’s not how that phrase works. But like you said Brown was miles ahead of everyone during his time and proved it while Jackson was a big what if. They’re not comparable.

Proper use would be saying Otto Graham was the Joe Montana of his day.
