Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz (3) had his own visit to the fourth-down panic room, going for a fourth-and-32 down three points to LSU with 1:15 left and all three timeouts. Punting, playing defense, using timeouts and getting the ball back for cannon-legged kicker Harrison Mevis seemed like an option, but Drink went for it, got half the yardage, ran nine seconds off the clock and gave LSU the ball in Missouri territory. LSU didn’t move, but it did punt it down to the Mizzou 5-yard line, whereupon Brady Cook threw a pick six that effectively ended the game.....

4th and 32 vs LSU secondary is like 4 and 30 in NFL blitz. Totally gettable

there was no way they were getting a stop on defense the way JD is playing

3) even if they don’t get yardage at all, LSU already being in field goal range played the sequence more conservatively than they would have on the other end of the field knowing a first down ends the game. So at worse you are only down 6

If they had boomed a punt inside the LSU 20 I also think the offense would have gone super conservative

Kelly #6. He's not as bright as we thought.

Did Orgeron ever pull a boner in clock management? I can't recall.

Cristobal’s screw up is literally unforgivable. If that happened to LSU, I’d want our coach fired immediately

I did want Miles fired after that.

Freeman going for it on 4th down just reeked of desperation

GC didn't get an $80 million guaranteed contract.

Like I said. Even if free, he’s a worse investment. He’s a program killer. He should never coach again.

There’s also more nuance, though and I still think I appreciate them going for it

1) they couldn’t stop our offense

Both strategies involved them stopping us with a 3 and out.

2) they still gained yardage that would equal a “bad” punt, but with the positives of any single penalty from PI, holding, hands to the face, roughing the passer etc. could get a first down

And, we could have fumbled the punt...or roughed the kicker. These are all minuscule possibilities.

Being down 6 would definitely lower the win % chances for Missouri.

Then he had the audacity to say to the media afterward that they don’t practice the QB taking snap direct from center and kneeling. Are you freaking kidding me???

He admitted to what most of us assumed. A lot of modern day football coaches are dumb enough to exclude the safest play to close out a victory from the playbook, just like some of them forget the QB Sneak. And yes, while the kneel down can be done from the pistol/shotgun…why would you risk a bad snap? Just teach the kid how to take a snap underneath the center.

There's a reason for that, they pass the IQ test.

Kelly punted the ball to Ole Miss on 4th and 7 at the 50 when a first down wins the game. Punting was ridiculously stupid. Ole Miss could've started that drive in Meridian and scored. They scored so damn fast, it looked like we were letting them score to get the ball back.

For that alone, he needs to be on the list.

4th and 32 against our defense is really like a 4th and 6

Kelly wasn't mentioned and he's been in some real barn-burners, one nearly every week, and neither was Saban. There's a reason for that, they pass the IQ test.

Didn't Brian Kelly go for it on 4th and 16 near midfield in the first half against Tennessee last year? It was 20-7, no?

Your fanbase went apeshit over that one.

Lmao. No. Any coach that does what he did should be fired immediately after the game. No excuses. But he comes out with the most retarded response which actually makes sense because he couldn't say he made bank by calling that.

That running back should be cut too. 99 times out of 100 you don't fumble that. But he did after the worst playcall. He's dumber than the coach unless he got paid to fumble which makes alot more sense than 30 seconds of football.
