Well you know, climate change and its impacts on the atmospheric pressures to which the ball is subjected to and things like such as launch angles plus the stronger players. It could really be anything. We don't know. Baseball is unpredictable.

@TBrownYahoo
Source says Giants and Astros "engaged" on Bumgarner. Amount of traction unclear.

Everything is fluid, of course, but as of now Syndergaard still scheduled to start tonight in Chicago. As @Ken_Rosenthal noted Ervin Santana was pulled from AAA start. But more likely in case starter needed Thurs for Wheeler

Yeah, Verlander gets persuaded to use his respected place in the game to mention the juiced ball at the AS game, and he's crying and whining.

Meanwhile, tough guy Scherzer just sucks it up and rests his sore shoulder.

I guess the difference being one having the wherewithal to recognize his place, and the other, not so much.

Wide net for Astros also includes Ray, among all the others you've heard. The stunner would be if 'Stros don't end up with one of the top-end available SPs.

@Ken_Rosenthal
Hearing same. Wheeler also possibility, and Bauer might be as well. Tim noted Bumgarner in earlier tweet. HOU on Bum’s no-trade list, but there is incentive for him to approve a deal. Player traded mid-season ineligible for qualifying offer, exempt from draft-pick compensation.

I hope Bumgarner goes to a contender. Beating him in October is very appealing

People arent talking enough about the job hes done. They are going on this run because hes done a really good job at bringing in bodies and rotating them until finding pieces that do anything at an average level

Hes a terrific executive
