What a trade for the Reds. They got a better OF than Duvall plus 2 young pitchers. The biggest heist of the trading season

Let's break down all of the wrong in this post:

1. Tucker is a minus defender. He had a scorching hot bat for about 3 weeks that seriously inflated what he actually is at the plate. There's a reason he spent a lot of time in Gwinnett even though his numbers aren't atrocious at the MLB level.

2. Wisler and Sims were never going to contribute in Atlanta with the young arms coming up from the farm. It's not an exaggeration to say the Braves have 15 better pitching prospects than either of those two.

3. It clears two 40 man spots from the Braves roster and they would have both been Rule 5 eligible next year.

I heard an interview with their Pres or GM or some Reds FO guy - they think they can win next year.

Watch out! Big Red Machine firing back up!

Well that's newsworthy. Jesus Christ, Boston is loaded this year. Gotta be win the World Series or bust for them at this point.

I wish nothing but the best for Wisler and Sims, but Wisler got 300+ innings as both a starter and reliever, and Sims was brought up in two separate years trying to give him a spot on the team, and neither took advantage, or even made it a difficult decision to send down.

Two negatives = a positive, right? And in this case a gaudy .2 WAR for Preston Tucker!!
I don't really trust defensive metrics; Duvall's offense is just obscene this year. But he's had better years and if hits back to them, he may be a good pick up.

Yeah, but that's the best they could do?

Duvall is pretty trash. At least they have a 1 out of 3 chance of hitting on a decent player.

They're basically counting on Sims to become a decent reliever. Wisler is a AAAA pitcher and Tucker is a AAAA hitter. Both can make occasional spot starts with hopefully decent results.

Like I said, I'm shocked we got somebody to trade for Duvall. Doesn't sound like we got much of a haul but I wasn't expecting a whole lot.

So are McCullers and Verlander wishing Osuna nothing but a miserable life or does he get a pass since he isn't a minor leaguer?

And I guess the no tolerance policy was just a myth or does it apply to players only once they are on the team?

Amazing what getting swept by the Rangers can do
