Or he told them they would have a chance as long as they opened their check books. I think even if he is traded to a contender they could resign him as long as they pay him a crazy amount

but would they want to if they arent going to make a legit push to resign him?
seems like the only teams that will make an offer that the nats would want would be teams that could/will resign him. basically leaves the yankees, dodgers, cubs, phillies, red sox imo
red sox dont have the surplus pieces that they would want to trade so it probably comes down to yankees, dodgers, phillies, cubs and the phillies will probably be the most motivated imo

Been seeing a lot of Harper to the A’s before he was even “available
They have pieces in the farm

Which eliminates Houston. Houston wouldn’t have interest in Harper for the figure he’d be looking for

dodgers just traded a top 50 prospect so i doubt they will look to further weaken the system

He is familiar with Washington and if he believes they can compete next year and come with 35+ he would come back. Now if he went to the Yankees, Cubs, or Dodgers that may be harder to lure him back, so Phillies, Indians, or Braves make sense as a rental.

Cubs can't make this type of offer without subtracting from the current major league team. They're out too.

Yeah. I was just saying that the Braves would have the most to offer in terms of prospects and maybe starters. It would be too much of a gamble for the Braves, especially how they have rebuilt the organization.

Braves just traded for Adam Duvall
quote:
The #Braves just announced they have acquired OF Adam Duvall from the #Reds in exchange for RHP Lucas Sims, RHP Matt Wisler and OF Preston Tucker.

Dodgers already have a bobble head night planned for Machado. He’s already struck out and tripped over the power cord here at Dodgers stadium

i just cant believe this actually happens right now. too much of a franchise altering move to come together over the last 20 hours. if anything does happen with harper, i think it will happen at the waiver deadline

Sims and Wisler were flameouts. Duvall is a decent bench piece. Meh.

Sources confirm: #Nationals sending “feelers” out on Bryce Harper. “I’d be shocked if they do it,” one rival exec says. “They’re seeing if someone wants to go crazy.” First with the news that Harper was available: @chelsea_janes and @Feinsand.
Seems like they are hoping for an overpay

The braves had zero power from the right side off the bench and they actually convinced someone to take their scraps of shite. This is a win for the braves in my opinion.
They can also slide Acuna over to CF with Duvall in left against LHPs and he can serve as power insurance in case some douche hits Freddie in the hand again

Whole bunch of media folks just got duped by a 2016 tweet on Luis Severino going to the DL

UPDATE: RHP Luis Severino has a mild right triceps strain, will not pick up a baseball for 5-7 days and will be placed on the 15-day D.L.

Mariners and Indians would be in on a Harper too, id assume
Posted on 7/30/18 at 10:08 pm to VinegarStrokes
Also frees up roster spots for two prospects. I ain't mad about it.

Indians probably have the biggest actual need.
Their outfield has been dreadful at the plate
Nats want a right now/close MLB starter from what I’ve read, not sure they will get that
