Curt Gowdy and Tony Kubek.

Vin Scully and Joe, and Bob Costas (before he went off the rails) and Tony.

Costas hasn’t changed at all. He is just an old liberal. The only folks off the rails are bitchmade snowflakes on all sides.

Aren't YTTV subscribers getting that as part of their subscription sometime between now & the end of 2026?

So is NBC airing a Sunday night game all season until the NFL season starts? ESPN will be airing a weeknight game?

Surely they are going to bring back the old theme song like in basketball?

I would love a “mic’d up” Sunday night game

Don’t even have to interact with announcers. Just give us an insight on decisions, approaches, and interaction between players

No more MLB on TNT? That sucks. They do a good job.

ETA: so I can cancel my MLB.tv subscription too? What about it's integration with the MLB app? Part of the perks of that subscription is access to the radio broadcast of the games. Listen to a ton of ballgames while golfing.

So MLB TV will go from a good app to the crappy ESPN one? Great.

I watched him in the ‘80s. He was a much lighter listen, and seemed to enjoy the game and sports more. At some point, his ego swelled because everyone started considering him the conscience of sports. Now he’s almost a no-nonsense curmudgeon. That’s off the rails for me. I don’t enjoy him like I once.

Wrong. Costas crossed the line a long time ago that many long-time sportscasters do. He started to think that he was as much of the attraction as the game he was covering. He also - like many who cover sports - feels embarrassed by being relegated to the toy department of journalism so has to overcompensate by giving his opinion on the social/political/cultural matters of the day.

Ken Rosenthal fits in that category too, although he’s an insider, not an announcer.

Eh, Costas used to be pretty strong. At some point, he started coming across as overly arrogant. I'm not talking politics, I'm talking about in the actual broadcasts.
