Cain is 32. Braun is 34.

Santana is 24. Brinson 23

Their farm system is not good.

Yelich is one of the most overrated players in baseball. He’s solid but hardly a center piece

Their pitching Needs an ace, a SP2 and another middle rotation arm before they can compete

what? He's a 4.5 win type player making 10 million. That's incredibly valuable

Who do you like in their system?

59th in wRC+
89th SLG

Like I said he’s solid but he’s a good 3rd or 4th guy on a good team.

The attraction for Yelich with me is what he might look like if he puts the ball in the air more + moving to a more hitter friendly park. If he moves up to 25-30 HR I think he could be more than that

Well yea that’s easier said then done. He’s a 60% gb hitter tho he has hit more fly balls recently

I know nothing personally about their group if players to make a comment on who I like or dislike, I just know what a lot of people who know more than me think and they all seem to be in agreement that they have a great organization

And? How do those two stats paint a picture about him as a whole player? Hes 26, locked up for 5 years making like 10 million per, and has already accumulated over 17 WAR. That is terrific

Of course, if he changes nothing I agree with what you said. IMO they would have been better served spending the Cain money on pitching. I don’t have a problem with the deal they made for Yelich

I wouldn't commit 5 years to Cain at 32 but I think you can count more on what he will produce than giving darvish or arrietta 5 years and 125.

I think they trade for some pitching. They have the bullets.

Well you at least know they just traded 3 guys in their top 10 including their 1 prospect, right?

So you only spout the wRC+ when it benefits you?

I never said he wasn’t good. He’s a good ball player. Plays good defense. Runs well. May have untapped power but at this point he isn’t a cornerstone offensive player. He’s in the bottom of that second tier, maybe even into the 3rd tier.

and they still have 4 players ranked on many top 100 lists so they still seem to be in an ok spot

no, i use it to assess offensive performance. not total value of a player. and its no secret most of his "struggles" came from playing in miami. outside of miami he was a .370 wOBA and 127 wRC+ guy with a .185 ISO and a .385 OBP

hes a solid second tier player who is getting paid like hes replacement level for the next five years

Both teams now sign a player to andeal just to show they are reinvesting... Pirates could lock up some of their young talent.
Marlins can bring back Ichiro

Brewers need to be shopping one or more of their multitude of OFs for a SP.

I know they're shopping a package with Domingo Santana and Brett Phillips. The Giants were interested in Santana but after adding McCutchen and Jackson they're most likely out. Not sure who else would be interested.

Everyone should be interested. The asking price on that package is probably astronomical.

Sounds like they’re working on a deal for Chris Archer.

If I’m a free agent pitcher there’s about a 0% chance I’m throwing without a contract

Ever seen fans overreact so much from a minor jersey change?

Nationals in talks with the Marlins, would be huge if they could pull this trade off....
