The players will never be happy and someone will always be screwed. Sorry but players entering their 30's are not as valuable in today's game, certainly not for what they want.
Martinez, Hosmer, Yu, Arrieta, etc have all received offers, they are just not breaking the bank and not comparable to years past.
So the players can say collusion all they want buy many of these free agents would be signed if they agreed to reasonable deals. Watch next year when you have players getting 25+ million a year.

It took MLB quite a while to figure out that they could police steroids and juice the ball to get more homers while paying less money to players.

It’s a good deal for Mets. I just thought an established player who isn’t that old would get more than 2 years.

Twins get their starter, Jake Odorizzi from the Rays.

Sources: Jake Odorizzi is going to Minnesota. Shortstop Jermaine Palacios is part of the package headed back to Tampa Bay.

Nice move for Minnesota. They could still use another SP but this definitely helps

I know it seemed like early in the offseason the Cardinals were most definitely either signing one of the FA relievers or trading for someone like Colome to take over the closer role, what’s the latest on that? No way y’all depend on Gregerson to carry the load, right?

It's apparently an open position in camp, so who knows it may end up going to anyone. Could see a world where Reyes takes it over after he returns.

Maybe, but Crasnick said this closes another door in the market for Lynn and Cobb, he made it seem as if Minnesota is done.

He was.

He hit .282/.325/.490 33 doubles 4 triples 27HR 62RBI 2.7 WAR

Pretty surprising they DFA'd him.

Sounds like they maybe just wanted to shed the salary/40 man roster spot for Cron?

Dickerson is much better than Cron. They’re just being cheap

Unless they swing a deal and actually get something for Dickerson but you’d think that would have happened before DFAing him. Weird situation

Especially when the trade with Odorizzi breaks at essentially the same time

Hosmer is officially a Padre

quote:

The Padres have agreed to sign first baseman Eric Hosmer, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. The contract is an eight-year deal that includes an opt-out clause after the fifth season, according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi (via Twitter). The deal contains a full no-trade clause for the first three seasons and then limited no-trade protection afterwards, Bleacher Report’s Scott Miller reports (Twitter links).

Unbelievable, the lack of talent Minnesota had to give up, especially considering teams needed pitching badly.

Mo with his head up his arse yet again. Jake would of been a perfect fit for Cardinals.

Some of the trades this offseason have had me scratching my head. I mean the Yankees didn't give up what I thought they would for Stanton, same with Cole, and now with Jake
