Great to hear that minor league baseball is dying a slow death.

College baseball is replacing it down South… it started in Louisiana and now it’s spreading

I’ve been to a few midweek Biloxi Shuckers games over the past few years and the attendance has been pretty dismal. Maybe 2,000 people at best.

What’s alarming is ticket prices are dirt cheap and there are plenty of food and drink specials.

The Shuckers used to be the Huntsville Stars and I went to games all the time. It was good cheap entertainment.

The Trash Pandas tickets are too expensive, imo. $20-30, plus ten bucks to park.

To be fair,i t also seemed to rain every day this summer.

The only way to "fix" the attendance for minor league teams, imo, is to remove team affiliations. Have players themselves belong to organizations, but be placed around the country with regional considerations. Fans are more likely to go see teams with more local (whether that be regional colleges or high school) products.

Also having completely random affiliations. Im sure people in Charlotte really care about the organizational health of the ChiSox.

But thats a worse machine for what the whole thing is designed to do. So teams dont really care.

I’ve been to multiple “zephyrs” games! (I live in Wichita, where they moved to).

Exactly why I said "pretty much" everyone else. I figured someone here lived nearby or went to a game while traveling through the area!

I just found out this past year there's a minor league team in Atlanta, the Stripers. Tickets were dirt cheap, and free parking. Concessions were reasonable as well.

Nothing to get excited about, but there's plenty of worse ways to spend a Friday afternoon as well.

also don't GAF about pro baseball
I always thought there was a charm to minor league baseball that transcends one’s opinion of MLB as a whole

Parking is hit or miss.

Can’t you park in the garage connected to the stadium for free?

We have the Astros AAA team about 20 minutes away, tickets are cheap and it's always empty

This is another problem. They’ve moved many Triple A squads to the metros of the MLB team. Gwinnett, Sugarland, St. Paul, and I hear that Vegas will keep the Aviators even after the A’s move in.

Hadn't heard about that.

I went to a game when Tre Morgan was in town and parked in a vacant lot near Mary Mahoney's. Never tried the garage.

Minor league baseball is about the family outing more then the actual game. Maybe has to do with declining families

This could never happen. You won’t get multiple teams to agree on MiLB managers and organizational strategy for one franchise.

But it’s always been this way. Charlotte averages over 5,000 a game, so they are fine anyway. Indianapolis (PIT), Richmond (SF), Durham (TB), Albuquerque and Hartford (COL), El Paso (SD) routinely do well despite not being in the footprint for their MLB affiliate.
