Bama had 3 first rounders play in their non-playoff bowl game last year.

Was this before or after his team lost by 60 points?

Again, Norvell inherited a shite show so they are an up and coming program he’s building from the ground up. He had to use the transfer portal to fill the roster to compete with those programs like Alabama and Georgia who who have years of top ranked recruiting classes behind them

it’s not fair to compare them to the culture and depth of Alabama and Georgia because they aren’t there yet (very few schools are)

them not being a deep team or a team full of “program guys who love FSU” has nothing to do with them getting left out of the playoff

The CFB Culture Police still want to extrapolate some life lesson out of this, like a dumbass middle school football coach. It was a meaningless exhibition. Players responded appropriately.

Bama, UGA are great because they have phenomenal coaches, athletes, conference, and money. “Culture” isn’t even in the top 10.

For frick's sake.

He's at Florida State not USF.

You're right. It has everything to do with a culture of mercenaries that don't give a shite about the school they play for.

Georgia's response to getting left out was to prove they belonged. FSU's response was to bitch and moan then roll over on the field.
Period.

You act like this is the first time in CFB history this is happened. Its happened several times over a span of decades. Why are you melting down so hard this time?

Correct. Teams have been fricked over many times so the darlings can get a shot no one else would. Different standards for different programs.

Why are you melting down so hard this time? What makes 2023 FSU so special and exceptional to you?

Hardly a melt. I don't like FSU at all. All I am doing is providing a point of view that many here can't seem to grasp. It is quite simple...

If you keep telling teams their regular season is meaningless due to an injury, more players are going to keep opting out.

This really isn't that hard.

What the CFB committee did this year wasn't well thought out.

So, what will happen in the future? Outside of the 12 team playoffs, bowl games are going to suck worse. You are also going to see players start opting out as soon as they know their program is not going to be "selected", or, even worse, if they lose a solid player on the team.

I'm going to laugh my arse off when another contender loses an All American QB, then the rest of the team looks at FSU 23 and says "well this isn't worth it, we already know they will frick us over, I'm saving myself for XYZ".

The 12 team playoff isn't going to solve that, especially when the committee starts putting 3-4 loss media darlings in over 1-2 loss teams. It will happen, and anyone with a brain can see it coming.

Are we just going to ignore strength of schedule and act like all losses and wins are created equal? There are absolutely teams with multiple losses better than teams with one loss.

Another narrative that will be fluid.

Should SOS matter? Absolutely.

Remember at one point in time we had this system and a formula called the BCS. It took SOS as one of the main factors into who the top teams were. You even got points for "Quality Wins" when you beat top teams.

As soon as this specific formula didn't benefit a media darling (USC), SOS was then ruled as something that was beyond a team's control, so it was immediately removed in 2004.

Another instance where CFB media will change the narrative based on what a top team needs to get into the title game.

This is part of my overall point. One season it is SOS. When that doesn't work, we change the narrative to the "eyeball test". When that doesn't work, we change the narrative to "well this team had an injury so frick em".

Seeing a pattern yet?

The problem is it is very hard to determine who is actually good and bad at any given moment. With less OOC games being played we really have no idea of sos anymore so we default to historical results / recruiting rankings.

Considering the title says “after the Orange Bowl,” surely your A&M education can figure this one out.

CFB fans really are the dumbest people alive. I'm convinced of it. Main reason why the media has been able to destroy the sport while idiots cheer it on.
The sport was built on a system and structure to operate. It’s not the most beneficial to the athlete but it’s the system that works. As we tear it down for the betterment of the athlete, it will destroy the sport and system. Thunderous applause type situation.
