A source tells @On3sports
that Oklahoma State offered Mike Gundy a reduced contract that would come with assurances he would go all-in on NIL.

The dollars saved on his contract would be put towards NIL/revenue sharing. If Gundy does not agree, Oklahoma State will terminate his existing deal and launch a head coaching search.

Another report says that the university expects an answer by the end of the day on whether Gundy will take the restructured contract or be fired.

This is his first losing season since 2005 and 2 of the past 3 seasons were pretty good.

Gundy is one of the best coaches in the country. He's disgruntled with the current state of college football.

But for pure coaching, there are few better.

so they have money for a buyout and a new HC salary, but not NIL?

His buyout is $25 million that will be paid monthly over the next 4 years so if he doesn't play along and gets fired, the university will have an extra $1.7 million per year to buy players.

That's if they don't give the new coach a bigger contract than Gundy has now, which I wouldn't bet on. Makes me wonder if OSU decision makers have really thought this through.

How different would his career & legacy be had Quinn Sharp’s final FG at Iowa State in 2011 been ruled good?

Guess Pickens’ kids have no desire to shell out NIL money like their dad would have

LSU would have destroyed them in the NC game.

I know the wheels absolutely fell off this season, but this is their first losing season since he moved to Stillwater. He's one of their best coaches through all of their history, if not the best. Surely his leash is longer than a single bad season, right?

I mean, they do realize they are Oklahoma State, and not Ohio State, right?

To be fair you have no clue what they’re going to pay their next coach (none of us do), so why even make an assumption like that?

But it ain't the Mike Gundy University football program. The idea of firing him for cause sounds ridiculous but if he doesn't want to play in this era you better pull out of the tailspin like Dabo did, not go 3-9.

Why? Because he has/had a cool hairdo?

That’s a weird thing to say about a random (but good) football coach

I agree, but just appearing in the national title game would've paid dividends.
